ERA test: any experience?

Dear all,

has anyone done an ERA test and did you find it was worth it?

My clinic recommends it it lining is not thick enough. I am worries that I might have to do the test more than once, and it is very expensive.

Anyone happy to share their experience... I would be very keen to hear from you.

Thanks!!

I don’t know much about it but am considering it myself before my transfers in the summer. I’m not sure why you would need it more than once - the point is to check that your endometrium is receptive on the correct day and it was my understanding that when they do the test, they will give an indication that you need your transfers to be at 5 days plus 18 hours, or 5 days minus 12 hours, etc! That’s how my consultant explained it so I didn’t get the impression that a repeat would be needed xx

Thanks! I talked to the UK provider, igenomix, and they say a repeat is rare... but it does happen. Still not exacly sure why, I will let you know if I find out more.

Hi again. This is my understanding from reading their online info: if the ERA test says the endometrium is not receptive, it indicates when a second biopsy should be taken - i.e., best to repeat the test until it says "receptive"! Considering it is almost £1000 a test...

Bttw, what did you mean "at 5 days plus 18 hours", exactly? Thanks and best wishes xx

Hi Vanna I had one after 3 consecutive chemical pregnancies. It didn’t hurt at all, just one quick scratch and you wait for your results. Mine came up receptive first time (basically done on cycle day 19) It is v expensive but compared to what we’ve spent on ivf it’s absolutely nothing. Following the protocol I am now pregnant xxx

Fantastic news Natalia, both about the ERA and your pregnancy result!! I wish you the best and will be following you!! And thanks again for your advice, you are precious! I have had a bad day today, trying to no avail to get Ovitrelle... the pharmacy did not like the prescription from the clinic abroad (not clear why, as it had all the info requested), wanted a prescription from my GP, who did not want to do it because I have never taken Ovitrelle and he did not want the responsibility, got back to the pharmacy, who sent me back to the GP, who sent me back to the pharmacy... in the end, no luck (not really a matter of luck though in this case, grr.). I have my scan tomorrow so I might well have missed the boat. So frustrating and stressful, it's just ridiculous when they tell you not to get stressed... :-( Anyway, sorry for the rant. :-) Tomorrow will be another day, let's hope the scan is not too bad. Cheers! xxx

Not sure if you managed to get your prescription sorted out. I get my abroad prescription from a clinic in London, you email them and they post out first class. I'll PM you.xx

Hi again - quick question: did you do the transfer in the same cycle of the ERA test, or in the next cycle (under the same conditions)? Best wishes!

in reply to

So sorry you’re having a nightmare getting the drugs, so frustrating!! My Consultant in London has them if you’re really stuck but they need to be kept refrigerated. You can’t do the transfer the same cycle because the ERA is performed on the predicted day of your actual transfer in order to assess receptivity. I did mine months later xxx
