Is this normal after a laparoscopy ???

Hi everyone.

I know I had a laparoscopy before but I had no difficulties with it; this one nothing but issues 😔

I had spotting and cramping and heavy bleeding which my GP says was my period; it wasn’t due till Saturday but came Wednesday.

My wound on my left side is very sore; it turns one of stitches is hidden underneath my scab and this has caused a ragging infection; I have been issued flucloxacillin 500mg x4 daily for one whole week; I have been told to keep an close eye on it and if it’s still red and weepy to come back ASAP.

I have had horrendous back pain ( not a normal endo symptom for me) followed by contractions in my uterus and particularly in my lower side where my endometriosis was treated and some was left due to location ; literally I cannot do anything but breathe through them; it’s like I’m giving birth oh the irony 🤦🏼‍♀️ eventually I had a gap and could swallow some strong co-codamol ( with my endo I live on this stuff 🤦🏼‍♀️) It has now eased up.

Has anyone else had similar issues after a laparoscopy?

I was so positive about the future now I feel a bit meh.. sorry for the self pity post.

Anyone about to undergo a laparoscopy; please don’t let my experience put you off; my first laparoscopy was easy. xoxo

Update;

The scab has come off and there were two stitches behind it so nurse practitioner was spot on. The last time I had to have them removed this time I got a ragging infection; the next lap i have I’m insisting on non dissolvable stitches with the issues I’ve had with these 🙄 maybe I’ve just been unlucky but taking no chances next time 🤔 xoxo hopefully will now start to feel much better 😊

Sorry to hear your lap was troublesome, bloody endo. Shitty horrible disease takes over your life! I’ve just had my egg collection which aggravated endo, back on a mix of tramadol and cocodamol. Good luck with your recovery, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger!!

It is such a nasty disease to have; it does take over every aspect of my life I wish it didn’t. ; according to my fertility specialist I’m prone to it recurring it great 🤦🏼‍♀️feels like I’m having to fight my body to get pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️so he’s referred me to an endometriosis specialist. I’m used to endometriosis pain but yesterday it was unbearable I ended up with chest pain afterwards ; my mum thinks I should get in touch with my GP ; but what can my GP do; the referral has been issued 🤷🏼‍♀️ gutted I thought I might have some relief for a few months from endometriosis 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m sorry your endometriosis is flaring up ; everything seems to make it worse it makes everything so much harder for us; especially when the goal is to have a baby.I seem to to live on painkillers it shouldn’t be like that should it🤦🏼‍♀️ I wish I had your positivity I feel beaten by it. A pregnancy should provide relief from endometriosis there is silver lining 🌈💫 I hope your endometriosis eases up soon and you feel better by the transfer xoxo

On the positive side after my last lap I had a couple of little flare ups then things did settle for about a year.

My endo specialist has kinda just put me to one side, just said while ttc there is nothing else they can do for me which is nice!

Yup I hear pregnancy provides relief from symptoms but I’m not really feeling like I’ll ever find out!

What happened in your lap and was it an endo specialist?

My first laparoscopy was done by my fertility specialist; I conceived but miscarried. My recent lap was done by a general gynaecologist; hence some was left on my bowel. I saw my fertility specialist last Thursday and he has referred me to an endometriosis specialist that he knows; this endometriosis specialist works alongside a bowel specialist so ideal 😊 it does annoy me a bit because they were aware of my bowel issues when I had my appointment 🤦🏼‍♀️

This is the issue with endometriosis with ttc 🤦🏼‍♀️ hopefully we will both fall soon and have a blissful 8 month relief from endo 💫🌈❤️ xoxo
