Acupuncture and being impatient

Hi all, for those who’ve had acupuncture. How long did you have it done for? I know I’m being impatient but I’m not finding myself feeling any different (don’t know what to look for really) I’ve been put on traditional chinese herbs also to speed up things (absolutely taste rank 🤮🤢) it’s not cheap as some of you will know who’s had it done. I’m doing all I can as this will be our last go. Don’t know if I should just suck it up and have more sessions or go for our last round. I feel like such a bitch for moaning but it’s like i maybe wasting time 😢. I’m just stuck in a rut and feeling shitty. Sorry for the rant 😢 love to you all 😘😘

I can’t help with how long it takes to feel different as I haven’t started acupuncture yet. But I totally get the feeling impatient. I’ve just had a failed round and now I just want to be starting a new round and not have to go through all the waiting and a natural AF first. I had a follow up with my consultant at the start of the week and he said that he does believe acupuncture can make a difference. We’re on our last frostie so like you I’m going to suck it up and throw everything at it. Hoping to start acupuncture in the next week or so. I would say stick with it for the whole round - you won’t know if it’s made any difference until you’ve finished the round. When do you start your next round?

Hi

I started fertility acupuncture after my failed first round. For me, aside from believing that it is cleaning my blood and sending it to all the right places, unlocking energy channels etc, it also relaxes me. For that reason I have continued. It is also shown in studies that having accupuncture just before and just after transfer increases the chances of success.

I will do anything and always say if it makes me feel better then it is worth it. Mind over matter as they say.

I would say that there isn't a bolt from the sky. It is a very gentle and subtle difference that I notice. For me it is mostly the calming effect I notice outwardly.

Hope that helps and good luck xx

Hi

I would say acupuncture is amazing as it also helps with relaxing you. My acupuncturist says for it to be effective have it at least two months before ur cycle. Also do your research as there are certain people that specialise in it. If u live in Manchester I have two people I could recommend x

Hi! Sorry to jump on this but would you message me the 2 you know? I have a lady now but she only does 2 days so I struggle to get in before transfer x

in reply to Se99

Hi

Can you private message on this?? My accunpunturist will properly have to get to know you before. I will ask her today if she does one off sessions. She said that as long as you have it near the transfer and after the transfer.

Thank you so much for the replies from all of you. Much appreciated. When I first seen my acupuncturist she told me to get the best results that I should delay my next cycle for 4-6 months. She’s a semi retired physio who trains in acupuncture and she knows her stuff etc. I do feel a little energised after a session but with these herbs she’s given me have somehow kicked my anxiety off (I’m on medication for anxiety also😢) so I’m going to find out today if that’s the case and why I’m being like this. I can’t help but feel impatient like I’m sure everyone else does. I feel like a absolute bitch for not being stronger. It’s so hard seeing babies everywhere, friends telling you that they’re pregnant, adverts for the clearblue tests (which I see at least twice a day), it’s like a stab in the gut every time 😢 and I know there’s no way out of it. It’s life, but christ it can be s**t! I’m really sorry for ranting ladies. I don’t know what I’d do without this forum 🙏🏻🙏🏻. Also thank you @vickyhowe1 for your recommendations, I live in South Wales so Manchester would be a bit of a trek for me 😊, your very kind. Love to you all xx

Sorry me again. I just read your post! How come an acupuncturist gives you advice on ivf stuff ? And she recommends you her herbs?? I don’t want to upset you but, did you get any results with this ‘ treatment ‘ ? Maybe is reducing your change to get pregnant! Best of luck and think about it !

Hiya luv, apparently she deals with all sorts and she went through all the appropriate questions in the beginning with medical history also and went from there. I’ve only had the one cycle of Ivf in sept/Oct last year and took the normal conception vits, so for the next cycle which will be the last go, I wanted to try everything possible ie recommended vitamins and acupuncture. Hope I haven’t confused anyone x

I’ve always started Acupunture 2-3 months before a cycle, I can’t say I really feel much different from having it but I do feel like my head isn’t a fuzzy once I’ve had a session. I hope things begin to look up for you xx

I started in December- I had a gap and am back on it. It works wonders. Helps you relax. Makes you produce more follicles (well on my first cycle) I didn’t have it. Only produced one follicle. But I am on natural modified. On day 2 they saw 3 and not on any meds yet!!! Going on my next scan tomorrow. I feel better for it and as a endo sufferer it helps too.

Thank you ladies x

I found the toxin drain my acupuncturist definitely helped pretty quickly.

My clinic strongly recommend against Chinese herbs as they say they can cause poor results for ivf, so maybe check this with your clinic?

Second this!!! Please check with your clinic about the herbs! They say it plays with your hormone levels. So make sure 1) you can take them! 2) it’s not affecting your results (I.e.) bloods in any shape or form. I also read if you have endo these tablets increase estrogen so please be very careful.

Well I didn’t know this, thank you for letting me know, she said they were for my thyroid (I was born with a under active thyroid) and for blood flow. I haven’t taken today’s dose and will leave it from now on. Your very kind, thank you x

Hi..My nurse told me, no Chinese remedies whatsoever! I’m currently 6,7 weeks pregnant. About acupuncture I don’t know what to say..... Your body is your master! In my opinion, stop all of this Chinese ,acupuncture etc! Just relax(easy said than done) and go for it! I wish you god luck on your cycle, and remember your body will do it for you if is meant to be ! Be positive

Hi I started Accupunture three months prior to my cycle starting. I feel it definitely made a difference and I fouund it helpt me relax. Didn’t really feel much different after the sessions . The clinic I used is more of a community based clinics but u always get ur privacy and the lady who did the sessions had experience with patients for ivf. Im not sure about the herbs though never taken anything like that . Wish you all the best x
