Wondered whether you could give me a bit of advice. We have our first appt booked for the 28th march which is our first IVF consult appt. How long then does it take to actually begin the IVF procedure? I’ve got it in my head that it’ll be very quick but everyone thinks I’m just hopeful and now I’m worrying. I can’t wait anymore... 💔 thanks all xx
Hi Rach. I had my consultation on 18th Feb and started down regulation last night, so only 4 weeks. I think as long as you've had all your tests and investigations you're good to go as soon as you're ready after your consultation. It might differ from clinic to clinic but I think generally it's fairly quick. Good luck xx

Thank you. I'm on the long protocol- didn't take pills, just started buserelin on day 21. Meds have to be ordered in so you're unlikely to get them the same day...I'm also nhs at a private clinic and it was quick for me. Xx
Hi Rach, according to my experience, it depends on many things 
- on the diagnosis about the possible causes for invertility and on the results you get from preliminary tests - mostly about the hormones AMH, FSH, LH.
- on whether your doc will advise to proceed with a long protocol (pill + about 10 days of meds/injections) or a short (no pills, just meds and injections).
- if you do a short protocol it depends on where you are at with your cycle. They will do an ultrasound first and then prepare an IVF agenda for you.
It all depends on your clinic situation really. It will be assessed by docs and nurses at the first or second consultation appointment.
Are you with a private clinic or with Nhs? Nhs might take longer for obvious reasons. A friend of mine had to wait 4 months in Scotland before start, while if you do it privately it should be quicker but expensive.

It is NHS but at a private fertility clinic. All bloods are done and back within normal ranges- I’m due on my period the day we go for the appt!! Xx
Great! so it should really be quick! mostly If your period is due on appt day they will probably put you on meds the same day

I hope too for you!! However I'm not a doctor unfortunately! I'm speaking based on my experience. I did a long protocol last Oct and had to start my pill on menstruation day for about 3 weeks, then the injections started about 3 days after I stopped the pill. I didn't respond unfortunately so they let me started a short protocol after one week of meds break. i produced 2 egg that were collected but didn't fertilised 
I'll do another IVF next month .. finger crossed for both of us x

If you got your bloods done in the clinic you're being treated in, it sounds like you are close to treatment. My clinic said with some of the blood tests they have to be done within three months of treatment (can't remember which ones) so it'd be no point in them doing them now and then having to do them again. Hope that means you're very close! Good luck x

Not in the slightest 😅😂 no tbh I'm starting to come round to the idea. Had some time and lot of ups and downs but ready now! I am 32 and have low ovarian reserve so chances r pretty low for us for success but got to try. How r u feeling hun? Where r u having the treatment ? Xxx
Haha yea I’m like that, I really don’t want to go through such a huge thing just to obtain something that happens so easily to others but not enough to not do it. I have a unicornuate uterus (half a womb) and only one Fallopian tube. I’m 25 and me and my hubby have been trying for nearly 3 years. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏼🙏🏼! Our first Consultant appointment was the 17/07 and I started taking the ivf drugs on 05/01. TBH we asked to pause while we tried naturally for a month or two so could have been sooner if we wanted! X
We had our 1st appointment on the 19th January this year and I’ve had my 1st cycle , EC ,ET and now currently on my 2WW test day is 27th so wasn’t long at all for me !! Hopefully ur the same good luck x
Woow It's amazing to hear that you are going for IVF. I think this is good step to have your child. I and my husband was facing double infertility for long long time. We also decided to go for Surrogacy or IVF though these are different techniques result is your own child which is everything for any couple. IVF is based on different steps as I research about this technique. This involves ovary stimulation for 8 to 14 days to produce multiple eggs. In second step Follicle are developed this will require your visit to your doctor as well. after this a term used as trigger shot is used as an injection to mature the eggs. after this step mature eggs are gathered and embryologist will check your eggs before combining them with your husband's sperm. and this process will continues and doctor will place some embryos in to your uterus and if the implementation is successful then baby will start growing inside your uterus. and research also tells that most of Babies through IVF are Twins or some time thrice in numbers Best of luck for your future.
