Hi everyone

Was wondering how long is the wait from when you get a positive pregnancy test

To the first scan?

Thanks xx

Usually you can have your scan within 11-12 weeks since your last period. In case you have been through the unfortunate experience of miscarriage in a previous pregnancy you can ask for an scan at 8 weeks. Hope this is of help. Congratulations xx

Hi

No I haven't had a miscarriage before, I'm going through Ivf and wasn't sure if they scanned earlier

My official test day is Wednesday and I have had a positive result so just counting down the days until I can call the hospital

Thank you for your advice xx

Yes for IVF it’s different, your clinic will want to do a validity scan to confirm a valid pregnancy at 7 weeks. You’ll see a heartbeat but the baby will be the size of a peanut so not much else to check at that point. Your care then transfers to NHS and you have your dating scan at around 12 weeks.

Bear in mind you’ll be 4 weeks when you get your positive HPT result so only 3 weeks to wait. Good luck.

Usually an early ultrasound scan is performed at over 6/7 weeks. It normally confirms the pregnancy, yolk sack and also you can see a tiny bean as well as a little flutter which is the heart beat. Early scans are offered/given if you have lost in the past or had any complications. Otherwise the first official scan is the 12 week scan. Hope this helps!xo

If you have had ivf then most clinics give you a viability scan at 7-8 weeks

Hiya, I think with IVF it’s three weeks from your confirmed BFP. So you’d be 7 weeks pregnant x

3 weeks. So tww first, then positive test result (at 4 weeks) then 7 week scan 3 weeks later.
