ICSI-had EC, only 1 fertilised. Waiting to hear if it can make it to transfer

Hi All

This has been a long stressful road already-as I’m sure it has for all of you. I’m 42 (eek-I know -old but it’s just how my circumstances have been). Anyway after years of ttc and various tests and decisions we have egg collection 2 days ago. I was on the stimulation drugs for 16 days but still only got 7 eggs. Only 1 fertilised overnight and I’m waiting to see if it’s ok to transfer. I’ve tried calling the embryology department today for an update but haven’t heard. I just can’t concentrate and am gutted that we might have got this far but fallen at almost the first hurdle!!

Anyone else have few eggs and low fertilisation go on to get better results next time?

Also how long do I have to wait before I can try again?

Hello Sharon, I don’t have an answer but I am feeling the anxiety of not knowing how my embies are doing too and it’s so so hard. Just wanted to say I’m with you and will hope your little embie is multiplying as we speak xxx

Thanks Elizabeth. It’s so hard and stressful and you always think ‘why me’. It’s good to hear other experiences although I wish none of us were in this situation in the first place!

Hi Sharon, i only got 2 eggs but they both made it through fertilization. I know none of us know what is going to happen in any of our situations but...It's not over till its over 💞💞💞 xx

Hi sharon. I'm sorry I don't have any answers but I'm 43 so also feel v.v.old to be doing this. hopefully will be doing ICSI next week depending on results of my scan tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed for your little egg x

Thanks.xx I’m sure we’re both young at heart-pity my eggs didn’t get that memo!

The embryologist phoned me back and said at the moment the one is still developing so all being well if that’s still the case tomorrow it’ll be put back in.

Are you having your drugs yet or is your scam tomorrow to look at getting started. Good luck with your journey.x
