Cyclogest advice please

Hi all, I'm due to start cyclogest tomorrow morning ahead of transfer on Thursday. Any advice on using them? Just pop it in and away I go or do I need to rest a while after inserting?

I didn't get to transfer as we had freeze all first round so not used them before.

Thanks for any advice xx

Hey Vicky, i was told to use them vaginally and I lay down for 20mins when I insert them. One evening I tried it without doing this and it shot straight out again!! I read on this forum that it takes 20mins for the progesterone to be absorbed and after that any mess that comes out as discharge is just the vegetable fat in the pessary. I have also read about other women using them rectally which mightn’t be as messy. Not sure what your clinic has advised you to do though xx

Thank you for the advice, they have advised vaginally. As they were prescribed so long ago I can't remember what else they said so thanks xx

Lots of luck xx

Hi Vicky, I was advised either way. When I started spotting during the 2ww I started to put them up the back. A lot less mess and some people say it can irritate your cervix.....saying that I'm still spotting now and have been on bed rest for 2 days! Good luck with your transfer.x

Hey there, I started them again yesterday evening. If you can rest for 20-30 mins after, you are then getting the most from them xx

I took rectally - much less messy. No need to lie down after I’m either case I don’t think. Good luck xx

I did them vaginally and used to wait for them to absorb before going about my daily life. They don’t take long to absorb . All the best xx

I take them first thing as I wake up and lie for 20 minutes. Do the same before I go to bed. I do find if I start walking around straight away more of the peasary leaks out than if I lie for a few minutes.

For anybody looking for advice on Cyclogest now. I have used them many times rectally (consultant said it take 4hrs for them to fully absorb in your system) if you are prone to thrush and cystitis, using them vaginally can be v irritating and messier. They absorb v well and far less painful than the injections.
