Bleeding on 2ww 😞

Hi everyone,

I'm on day 10 post 3 day transfer. I have had full on bleeding since Christmas eve and there's no sign of slowing down. My OTD is 29th Dec but I'm not very hopeful that I will get a BFP. Feeling very low at the moment, this is our first cycle with the NHS and we only get one chance... I really didn't expect my period would come so early. Has anyone experienced this? How do you keep yourself motivated? Thank you xx

Hi Harriet, I’m sorry to hear you are worrying about this.

I only got bleeding on my actual OTD which did turn out to be a BFN. I do however know from reading these threads some girls bleed and they all for different reasons and it could also be implantation bleeding too as the timing is about the same.

Try not to worry, carry on with the meds and check in the next day or two what happens.

Hopefully it is not too long for your test day. I’ll be thinking of you...

See if you can get your progesterone dose increased.

Hi. Thanks for your message. It's pribably too late to increase my dose as my OTD is in 2 days time but if it's a BFN, I will ask the consultant if my dose was too low. Sending you good luck on your journey xx

Yes I’ve increased my progesterone dose for my second round.

Thank you Beebeestar. The bleeding is very heavy and that's why it's very difficult for me to stay positive. There is still a tiny hope that a miracle will happen so I'm carrying on with the meds. Good luck to you wherever you are on your journey. Xx

On both my failed rounds I have bled 3/4 days before my otd and had bfns. My clinic did advise that I should still test otd as it could still be positive, but sadly it wasn’t for me.

I did query whether my progesterone levels were high enough. They looked closely at my dates and decided I wasn’t bleeding so early that they thought progesterone was a problem.

All I can say is try to keep a spark of hope and make sure you arrange a follow up appointment if it is a negative result.

Thank you for your reply. It's such a difficult journey for us all. I try to focus on doing some research on other fertility clinics out there...if it is a BFN hubby and I are gonna go private as we only have 1 shot with the NHS. Good luck to you wherever you are on journey hun xx

I really hope you get good news, we are in the same situation, our one shot at nhs funding ended today with a bfn. I’m still waiting for my period though. As with you we will go again but self fund. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

I got a bfp 8 days post 5dt and then started bleeding and sadly it turned out to be an early miscarriage this was our first round also. But as someone mentioned people bleed for all types of reasons try to stay strong and do not give up x

Hi Tiffs. Sorry to hear you had an early miscarriage. It must be hard. IVF is not an easy journey. I do try to stay positive but it's really hard. I just know deep down it hasn't worked. Best wishes to you in your journey hun xx

I had this twice happen to me, last time I started bleeding Xmas eve and its horrible as you feel your chance had been snatched away. You can have some bleeding and go on to have a BFP so you need to carry on meds but I knew deep down it was over both times for me. As for motivation, I dont know how people keep positive as I couldnt. I just had to go through the motions! Sending hugs.xx

Thank you. I find it hard to stay positive too. And like you said, I'm just going through the motions. The first week went well and I felt more positive even though there was a slight doubt. But this second week is so tough. Sending you good luck on your journey xx

Hello Harriet. Sorry to hear this. I’ve had the same experience all four times and sadly resulted in BFN. The bleeding was heavy. I have read that you can have some light bleeding with implantation. Take care over the next few days x

Hi Dunla. Thank you for your reply. My bleeding is too heavy for an implantation. My gut feeling is telling me this cycle has failed. Although I'm trying my best to hold on to a glimmer of hope that a miracle will happen. Sending best of luck wherever you are on your journey xx
