Hey help please lady's

I've been reading up that DHEA helps with egg quality , but also if you have PCOS not to take it ?

I've read some conflicting advise on the internet about this subject ,

I have PCOS but obviously would like to do anything to help my chances , I've over stimulated in the last round so don't want ohss again , any advise would be appreciated x

From what I’ve read it would probably not be wise for you to take it hon xx

I think I will air on the side of caution and speak to the doctor's x

DHEA should only be taken on recommendation from your doctor/clinic, so I would speak to them to see if it is suitable for you

During my review appointment following failed ICSI no 3, consultant suggested to me I could try taking DHEA to improve egg quality for next cycle. However I didn’t know where to buy it from online or what quantity to take!?

in reply to Dunla

My clinic recommended 3x 25mg per day. I can’t remember where I bought it from but it was a uk based site. There seems to be a lot of posts on here about buying micronised from the USA, but I didn’t do this. So far I have gone from 37% egg fertilisation in my first round to 60% in my second. I also took C0q10 400mg a day and latterly ubiquinol 200mg on top.

Thank you for sharing that. That’s a really good improvement in your fertilisation rate! x

I was also changed from gonal F to Menopur and I think that was because Menopur helps with egg quality, so it’s difficult to know what has helped!

I did much better on menopur also. I have very low ovarian reserve. Got one egg with gonal f on highest dose 😟

PQQ sounds really interesting, how much do you take of that a day? I’ve never heard of it before. Also looking to maximise egg quality going into a round of IVF in the new year so I’m following this with interest! X

I've only just discovered PQQ I take 20 mg a day it super charges the coQ10 my cousin in America was told by her doctor to take it for egg quality , there's lots of interesting research about this , Amazon sell Pqq it's not cheap but worth it xx

Thanks for the tip 👍 There are so many supplements out there it can all get a bit much! I think I’m going to choose a few and see how I do. This one sounds promising with the CoQ10. Good luck with your next round xx

Sorry no I’ve never heard of it. We are actually going down the route of using donor eggs now. We’ve tried four times with my own eggs to no avail. I’m a poor responder! Very low ovarian reserve. Hoping to cycle now in January 🤞🏻

I think it's 75 mg if you have no history of PCOS , only use approved British natural health website to be on the safe side x

I took DHEA but dont have PCOS. When I did my research I also read that its not a good idea for PCOS so definitely get the Dr's approval before starting. Have you considererd Ubiquinol or CoQ10....might be an alternative if DHEA isnt an option.xx

Hi Benjaminy14. DHEA is usually reserved for women who have low egg reserve, to hopefully increase the number of eggs collected in IVF/ICSI. Not usually recommended to use with PCOS in case it sends you into "overdrive"! You've already suffered with OHSS once, so if you are considering using the drug, you must discuss it first with your specialist. Good luck for your next round. Diane

Thank you Diane

And I know your right I'm going to ask the doctor to test my DHEA levels if they think I shouldn't take it I'll stay away ,

Thank you for your reply

I was under the impression DHEA improves egg number not quality. I have heard co enzyme q10 and inositol are best for improving egg quality xx

I'm on exactly that I've just got to be more patient I guess it's been five long years and still nothing , let's hope next year is the one x

Hi again,

Just wanted to say I’ve been doing some research on different options going into the next round of IVF and came across something called “coasting”, a way of spacing the administration of injections to prevent OHSS. It does seem to involve a lot of monitoring of bloods etc. but since you mentioned you had this last time I thought I’d let you know as it might be worth asking your clinic about this.

Best of luck and baby dust! Xx

Thank you so much I've never heard of this before I will definitely ask .

That was such a kind thing to do sharing that information I'm sure it will help others to.

Sending you baby dust and hugs Hun

Merry Christmas

Nikki xx

Of course, no problem at all 😊 it just sounds really promising as it can protect egg quality if done correctly.

Merry Christmas to you too! Hopefully 2018 will be a good year xx
