I have a question (if anyone know) it's off topic of IVF treatment but, anyone know how it work the maternity leave and pay?

I'm a employer for the same nursing home for the last 3 and half year, with full time contract.

Sorry about be off topic, but the gov web site it's getting confused for me 😔

Hi, hopefully someone on here will know but you might get a better answer from mumsnet or from the NCT page on HealthUnlocked.

Hiya it's 90% of monthly salary for 6 weeks then then 140 a week or a % of weekly pay what ever is lower for the Rest of the time you take (1 year in total is paid) hope this helps! X

You only get smp for 39 weeks however you are entitled to take a year off

The answers given so far at the statutory minimum but some employers give more. You will need to check own policy. X

It depends on your work, I get 100% pay for 7 weeks then 50% pay for around 4 months plus it’s topped up by some stat pay then I get just stat pay for 3 months which takes me to 9 months off and if I take off the full year for the last 3 months I get £0 pay unless I use my holidays that have been accrued and then I’ll get holiday pay instead. Also check if you would be eligible for child tax credits/ child benefit each month as that would boost your pay. Everyone is entitled to child benefit as far as I know which is only £80 a month but some are entitled to tax credits too which can be a lot more ( unfortunately we are not entitled to this as my partner earns too much ) xx

Yeah if he earns a decent wage you won’t be entitled to it as they expect him to pay to keep you so I’ve just told my fiancée he can pay me for staying at home ha ha x

Ha ha ha

But it's really difficult our bills every month are high just he's wage and less than half mine it's almost not enough for everything. I'm starting to think that I cannot stay 9month at home with my baby

Hopefully you would be able to get the extra help even if it was just a little bit more. We defo can’t as my partner can earn our bill Money in 2 weeks of work and still have another 2 weeks of pay after that too so in that sense we are really lucky. Fingers crossed it will all work out for you & you can stay at home as long as possible x

Lots of people can't afford a full 9 months off. All I can recommend is saving the absolute maximum amount you can while you're still earning, then adding on your annual leave before and after your leave to increase the paid time you get off. Don't forget you accrue annual leave while on maternity leave so when you return you'll have some holiday allowance you can use.

This is a good site and you can ring them for information on a free phone number: maternityaction.org.uk/advi...

Good luck, glad to see everything's going well with you and baby xx
