IVF soon - Advice pls :)

Hi all,

I start the injections right after Christmas. Normally my mood swings (feel quite sad) before my period. I am worried this will get worse and I will struggle going to work. I would like to hear your experiences so I can plan that month and posibilidad take few days off.

Best luck to everyone :)

I think everyone reacts differently and it depends which hormones you'll be taking. I find the hormones seem to 'Level me out', and aside from being. alittle more tearful I feel fine in myself- my husband has even said im more relaxed!

I think if your worried it may be worth speaking to your doctor or pre planning some leave from work so you have time to relax. Its a difficult process so try to take time to look after yourself.

Hiya I start on the 20th of January, it's my second round. I have terrible PMT and I get extremely depressed before my period ! But I have to be honest a part from feeling ridiculously tired the hormone injections actually made me feel better ! I felt like I was calmer. I have high hormone levels apparently and the medication helped to balance them out ! So try not to panic sometimes they can do the opposite 👍🏼

Great to know that I don’t need to expect something negative necessarily. Best of luck with your second cycle :)

First week was fine, then my period arrived along with every mood under the sun. Would be interested to know how everyone copes and receive advice so I hope you don't kind me following this thread x

in reply to S-Joys

Thanks S-Joys. I’ve not started the spray yet although I’m not sure it will be prescribed to me. As you said, it is interesting to know how everyone cope. Best luck to you :)

I just started my IVF hormone stimulator injection last Sunday. For me, I don't really have any mood swing. I just feel a bit tired than I normally am, and have aching back like first day of my period. I find take a short walk, enjoy some fresh air help a lot! I also drink a lot of water and eat more fruit than I normally do. In this case, I don't crave for junk food anymore. I also go to bed 30min-1 hour than I normally do. I find good rest is important.

Good luck QQLO :)

I would suggest you keep going to work it does keep u occupied. However don't expect to be as productive as usual and makes sure you inform your boss x

in reply to Shannon1400

Everyone reacts differently..I remember being really miserable and teary when i stared down regulating with Lupron but when I started the stimming meds, i felt much better..i travelled for ivf so i was away from work, i cant imagine going to work and doing ivf, try to get some time off when you can, especially towards the end of stimming because the belly can be a bit tender as the follicles grow bigger. Keep away from stress and pray. I did my first ivf few months ago and it was a success, i hope the same for you. Good luck dear!

in reply to Missbear

Congrats Missbear!!!! I will keep an eye and request days off if needs. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Obviously everyone is different but I found that it was mentally I struggled with work more than physically. The time you spend visiting clinics or actually on drugs is minimal but you worry about it so much it becomes bigger. Easier said than done but take each day as it comes, try to throw yourself into work when you can as a distraction and if things crop up that you can’t emotionally handle take a step back and remember why your doing all of this, try to think logically about how much things really matter in the grand scheme of it all and don’t let yourself get over emotional with your boss or anyone at work.

If you have to end up telling your boss, make sure you have legal cover for discrimination on your home insurance policy and document and negativity you get as a result of it all. Not that I’m saying this will happen but it can and if you have that cover you’ll have a bargaining tool if you every get caught up in redundancies etc.

If you figure out how to do all or this please tell me how xx

Thank you, snottyCow. My worry is the mental part so I will take your comments onboard. Very helpful :)

Hi, I think everyone has their own mood swings. Some react more and some don't. Well first of all you should do this time is to take a lot of care of yourself and make yourself calm and relaxed. You should give more time to your health, have a good diet. Go to your doctor and discuss in detail about your condition. Moreover, you should go to other doctors as well just for the sake of gathering information related to your problem so that you will be more aware of your health condition and then further you can go for your process whatever you want to do. good wishes for you.
