Confused...

I am due for ET at 3 today however the clinic has phoned and said that out of my 3 eggs non have made it to blastocyst- 2 are very close. Is there a chance they could be left for tomorrow? Am already on day 5 or 6 if you count EC day. But then don’t want them to deteriorate a

Either by leaving them. Got to go and have a conversation about what to do... feeling worried x

EC isnt counted as a day so you will be at day 5. They dont have to be at blastocyst on day five but this is the preferred stage they like to see them at on day 5 and you have to remember its only a grading. The only reason they like to have them at day 5 is to pick out the best ones for transfer or freezing so best to transfer them though you can obviously discuss with with them if you have doubts. Would you be prepared to transfer two or have they even given you this an option? You might find that if you only transfer one then the others may not be good enough to freeze or wait until tomorrow and it may still not be good enough to freeze (they only usually freeze the best as these have the best chances of survival at defrost), again another question for them. Sorry I cant give advice but perhaps have given you a few things to ask and consider. Best of luck xx

We can only have one transferred as on the nhs x

I had two transferred on the NHS. However I think this is very dependant on age (I was 38) and that you understand the risks of multiple pregnancy. We were firmly recommended that we transfer 1 but on asking they said ultimately that it was my decision and I thought what the worst that can happen if they're not going to freeze them so pressed for two. Worth an ask if you dont mind the thought of twins.xx

Hi there. I was in a similar situation on day 5, none had made it to blastocyst. (You are on day 5 from what you say) It is becoming more common to wait until day6 in this situation apparently. On day 6, two of my four had made it to blastocyst. I do hope you have blastocysts later today or tomorrow. I think in this situation you just have to trust the embryologists' decisions. They want you to succeed as much as you do, and they know all the research studies etc helping them know what to do. Hope you get a phonecall to explain to you more/answer your questions. x

I had a blastocyst on my first 2 transfers, both chemical pregnancies. My third round they transferred a compacted morula and I'm currently 12+1. It can happen 🙂 Xxx
