Provera or not???

Just_starting_out profile image

I need advice. After a long fight (including losing 11 stone, laparoscopy and challenging nhs rules) we have funding for one cycle of ivf but my periods have stopped (body appears to be in revolt!).

Now on day 75 and there is absolutely no sight of it or anything else (I’ve done more pregnancy tests than I can count. All negative). Also had a no bleed scan three weeks ago which suggests no pregnancy. But they won’t give me a definite yes or no. Just unlikely. Can’t help but hang on to hope even though I know it’s potty and that nothing is there.

I’ve been prescribed Provera with a plan to start next week. Should I take it? In complete conflict. Wondering if body just needs time! Help!

Have you thought about alternative therapy? Like acupuncture or reflexology? Could be worth looking into those to help kick start your body?

Thanks for your reply. Hadn’t considered that, it’s not a bad idea. Sounds daft but how do I access? This is all completely new to me.

I would google acupuncturists in your area, the place I go have acupuncture and reflexology in the same building so I have been using both!

I have PSOC and never have period in my life. So I was prescribed provera for 3 months before ivf-icsi start and it’s works. We are pregnant now.

Good luck to you.

Thank you.

Until now I’ve always been fairly regular. Body just doesn’t seem to be happy at the minute.

Really glad for you 😀

This is the only way I get a period. If never had any issues with it. Good luck x

Thank you, still unsure, but might be the only way forward. Body appears to need a kick start. Guess we’ll discuss with the clinic next week and come up with a plan x
