Hi Heretogetsupport, do you mean PGS? I think the best thing to keep in mind is to remain as calm as possible and try to be patient, have you already chosen a clinic etc?

Well I have to say it you're looking for support this website forum is just fabulous! Some of the inspirational ladies on here are truly amazing and bring so much strength along with giving some great advice. I think the only advice I can give is to make sure you and your other half talk and share your feelings as you'll need each other at the same times and different times depending on how you are both feeling, the emotional roller coaster is tough. IVF is a bit like doing the hurdles, once you get over one bit, there is always another one in front so try to take a step a time.....easier said than done of course! Best of luck and welcome!xx

Thank-you, we haven't even started the process yet and it already feels so up and down. I'm now the age where everyone seems to be having babies and best will in the world I can't help thinking it's not fair. Its the time it will all take that worries me most- I feel like I have this internal timer counting down!

Hi. Can I ask, do you have fertility issues or are you just planning on having treatment because of the genetic issue?

If it's the second and you don't need all the fertility investigations it might not take that long. Once we actually decided to go through the treatment process it was all very quick and easy. We went to the gp in July and after tests were approved for treatment in October but had to wait until the following May as we hadn't been registered with our go for long enough, but by the next April we had a baby! If it hadn't been for the gp issue we'd have been all done and dusted within just over a year and that included months of tests which you might not need.

So don't worry about the process itself or how long it will take to get there and you'll have a lot of support here

X

Thank-you for your message, that fills me with some hope. We only need the testing for Genetic issue- although I guess because we haven't every tried I don't know if there would be fertility issues. If you don't mind me asking, was your process through the NHS?

Yes it was all NHS and super quick and efficient. Though in our area, the NHS funds the treatments through a private clinic so we didn't have it done at an NHS clinic. But for you, with only the genetic testing which wouldn't be done before anyway, there's no reason for there to be huge delays as I'm sure there would only be a minimal amount of basic tests to check you're ovulating etc. If you don't mind me saying I think it's amazing you're going through this to secure the health of your child. It will all be worth it in the end I'm sure! X
