IVF miscarriage - When will my period return?!?

I am now 31 days passed a D&C for a 9 week MMC following my first fresh IVF cycle. The pregnancy test went negative 2 weeks ago. I just want to move forward and take a bit of comfort from my cycle returning to normal.

Does anyone have any experience to help guide me in what to expect / what is normal? Not sure if miscarriage after IVF is different insofar as I was massively drugged up on progesterone, had a bit of OHSS, and therefore it may take longer to reset?

Also, for the first time I have been temping since the D&C. My temperature gradually dropped then has been bouncing around at a similar level ever since I got the negative pregnancy test. Despite a clear dip in temp and EWCM around 10 days ago I have had no significant temp rise. No EWCM since then either. Is it common not to ovulate before first period after miscarriage? Or perhaps until my body does manage to I will go without a period?!

I know I sound like a crazy person, but I feel like we can’t look and move forward until my body resets and I have no real sense of what ‘normal’ after miscarriage is.

As we were lucky enough to have 5 frozen day 5 embryos left from this cycle, I kind of now just want to get on with FETs to see if it can work. I’m not getting any younger, so if we need another round of IVF (god, I hope not!) then I need to be doing it sooner rather than later!

Thank you for any advice / comfort you can offer.

Hi Mogwai_2. So sorry to hear that you have been through so much, then to have lost your little one. Unfortunately, it can take up to 2 months for your cycle to return to what is normal for you, but hopefully it won't be that long. Don't worry about your little frosties, as they won't age, and they will be quite safe waiting to be transferred back where they belong. Thinking of you. Diane

I’m sorry for loss, it took 46 days for AF to show up after my mmc, I was told if It goes over 8 weeks I could go in and get something to get things going again but I think generally things get back to normal before then. I remember feeling similar to you and desperate to get back to normal, hang in there x

Thank you. I think it’s just helpful to know that’s how I am feeling is normal.

To cheer myself up, I’ve just splurged on a lovely chair for the sitting room. Keeping myself distracted is proving a tad expensive!

I really appreciate your response, x
