Hi bms12. I don't know about for annovulation I'm afraid but I have tried evening primrose oil this month to help with a luteal phase defect I have. I use ovulation sticks every month, it's a bit of an obsession! I've got plenty of egg white CM but the sticks are telling me still no hormonal rise. If I don't ovulate this month it will be my first annovulatory cycle since trying.

What I'm trying to say is it looks like epo has delayed my ovulation. I asked a specialist about it who said not to bother and I'd be better off with strong b vitamins. I'm now taking inositol and folate (from Zita west clinic) which is also supposed to support women with pcos.

I'd recommend you speak to someone who knows this stuff. I've tried lots of different things to help and most of them have made things worse, which we really don't want! But other women have persevered and had good results. I know none of us wants to hear this as it takes so long, but it is worth getting a proper opinion as a lot of us only berate ourselves if it looks as if we've got it wrong. You need to work out why you're not ovulating first. Is it pcos? Is it thyroid? It is something else?

Good luck and I hope you get the answers you need. Xx

Yeah I have pcos, i dont ovulate naturally Nd it's difficult to make me ovulate with treatment. I also dont have a period, I had ovarian drilling done in May, and i had a light but natural period 6 weeks later. Since then though ive had regular treatment so I'm unsure whether I would have had a natural cycle, imhoping to actually get a regular cycle whether that is a 90 day cycle or a 30 day cycle etc. That way at least, i can then focus on trying to increase my chance of ovulation naturally. However I have been told try both capsules for at least 3 months before I can see any changes x

Your story sounds very similar to my friend's. Her success came through stimulated ovulation and appropriate management of her thyroid. She found that her thyroid levels fluctuated so her medication needed to be adjusted to match. I'm afraid she only got that bit diagnosed and treated through a private clinic. But it did give her a little baby.

I've seen you're off treatment for a few months, so as you say, probably the best time to try all the different supplements. Have a look into inositol. Having been advised to take it, I've done a lot of research and it does appear to be good for pcos. I really hope you find something that helps xx

Thank you, i will give it a try. I've only had my thyroid tested the once when i was first referred to the clinic. I decided to start university this year so we are slowing treatment down while I am studying however we are not stopping as my motivation for a change in career has been the treatment and the whirlwind of a life that we lead haha. It's a possibility after I graduate that we may see what private treatment can do for us (or me) as my husband is above the average according to his tests x

Hi bms12. Agnus Cactus has been known to help regulate menstrual cycles, although it is not proven. It is sometimes recommended to those who suffer badly with PMT as it is believed to regulate prolactin levels, and has been known to relieve breast tenderness associated with PMT. Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain, and some women who take agnus cactus do suffer from headaches. It is not recommended to be taken when going through infertility treatment cycles as it can interact with the drugs given. If you do decide to take it, then take the smallest dose that suits you and just during the first half of your menstrual cycle. You should definitely stop taking it when you become pregnant, as it is believed it can cause miscarriage. Always check with your GP/consultant before taking it, for their best guidance. Hop

Thats also one of my other issues as I have no natural cycle haha. I'm not undergoing treatment now for at least the next few months though, and as I don't ovulate naturally there shouldn't be an issue. Yeah I know it is suspected to increase change of miscarriage, more studies have been recently carried out looking at Angus castus and iknowbit has now been medically approved

Hi bms12. That's great that you have researched it, as it's good to get as much info as possible. Good luck if you decide to take it, and I do hope it's of benefit to you. Diane
