Canasten thrush cream

Bought this today as had bad thrush, I assume from pessaries. Text my friend (who's pregnant) asking how often I can use it as I've not had chance to read instructions yet as I'm at work. She replied saying it can't be used during pregnancy, is this true?

I'm pretty sure the nurse said to me that the cream and pessaries were fine but not the tablets?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks 😘

I googled my symptoms which have been itching and pain around entrance of vagina and I've been told by nurse at all of my treatments that the pessaries can cause thrush, so I just assumed it was most likely thrush. Used some cream and definitely feeling better now πŸ™‚ Xxx

I'm not too sure, pessarie canasten is fine it's just the tablet that shouldn't be used.

Maybe give your clinic a call tomorrow and double check with them just to be sure before you use it? Xxx

It's totally fine Hun unfortunately I have also suffered with it it's a pain!! My pharmacy would not let me buy it over the counter as they know I am pregnant however my GP did a prescription over the phone for me and assured me that it is perfecting fine just no tablets! Xx

Just realised I've bought the duo, it's got the external cream plus an internal gel that you insert once and preferably at night. Is that part ok to use? If it is I'll use it tonight so I've used it before my transfer xxx

I would imagine so yes I used the pessary and cream the pessary is sort of chalk like if there's an applicator with the gel do use it use your finger πŸ™ˆ as I was told by GP it can sometimes go to far up with applicator. I would ring you clinic and just double check it's ok to do b4 transfer I would imagine it is but plz do double check wishing you all the best for 2moz and he 2WW XXX

Hi Amanda86. Oh dear not nice having thrush! Yes, cream and pessaries are fine, bit should it persist, there is a different type of "systemic" medication that is safe in pregnancy - pill that you swallow! Hope it soon settles. Diane
