Hey ladies I have been advised to start my pessaries 'in the back door'. Does anyone know how long they take to absorb, I have bowel probs and concerned about it all disappearing down the toilet!

Goodness me you have absolutely no dignity left going through ivf!!

I've only ever taken pessaries via vagina and they take around 20 minutes to absorb so I'd imagine rectal might be the same?

I know, the things we have to do!!! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ xxx

I'm currently doing pessary the same way as you. Twice a day. Before I do I try to empty my stomach and stay in the bed for 5 min after.

To be honest I see sometimes sign of it but it's normal as our body absorb as much as we need.

Ps: try to push deeper for better result.

😊

I would really recommend going with the 'front door'. I started using the 'back door' initially because I thought it would be less messy, and yes it was BUT it gave me the most horrendous pains - actually made me cry on a few occasions - and it turns out it was trapped wind. It sounds pretty funny now but at one point I couldn't even drive my car as it was so bad. I had to call my mum to come collect me from the supermarket as I was in tears!

In answer to your question I was always told that it takes 20 mins to aborb either way, the only thing with front door is that you have to lay flat for those 20 mins.

I've been on them for 7 weeks now and pretty used to them but will be glad when I don't need them anymore!

πŸ€” yea I was worried about pains as I struggle with abdominal pain anyway due to bowels but clinic said just until transfer then I can do them vaginally!

Give me an injection any day over these little weird candle thingies!! πŸ™ˆ

Ahhh, well see how you go. I guess everyone reacts differently. I agree yes, I'd much prefer a tablet or something! Thanks for your good wishes and good luck to you too x

Indeed!! The things we have to do!!

Personally I prefer the back door for the bullets as there seems to be less leakage & it's less likely for me to get thrush which is a whole other world of pain!!!

I read it only takes about 20 mins I think.

Good luck!! Xx

I did back door too (far less messy!). I was told they absorb within 20mins xx

I did back door and much easier, less mess and no waiting about after inserting them x

Yes backdoor too. I couldn’t believe the mess these things make from using them via front door. I am taking lactulose though as I am constipated now!

So after transfer it doesn’t matter which door you use? I prefer the back door. Had my transfer yesterday. Is this ok? Or do you think I should use it via the front door? I am on prontogest too

This post was from a wee while ago now, I got my bfp and he’s now 18months πŸ₯°

I used the rear entrance and was fine 🀞🀞

Good luck
