Extreme anteverted uterus?!

Hi everyone, I had a laparoscopy about 3 weeks ago and received the summary letter today. It mentions 'an extreme anteverted uterus', which the doctor never mentioned before.

Tried to have a look into it but can only find details about 'normal' anteverted uterus. Does anyone have any experience of this and know if there may be an impact on fertility? Just trying to figure out if this relates to the trouble conceiving. X

Apparently your uterus can move. I had a retroverted uterus on one scan and then it was back to normal on the next. I was told the retroverted uterus wouldn't affect fertility. Hope you're healing up after the lap.

Thanks both! It was just because it was mentioned on the hospital letter with recommendations for any future IVF treatment, so i wasn't sure if it meant anything.

My uterus seems to be permanently retroverted. Together with a pinhole cervix, this made for awkward embryo transfer in ivf. I suggest that you ensure your chosen clinic is prepared to do a trial embryo transfer (which is good practice anyway) before egg collection to make sure they are able to access your cervix. I was told it's about ten percent of women who have a retroverted uterus. It's just how I am made.

Thanks. I am going to mention it in the follow up appointment. It mentions part of the hysteroscopy was difficult because of the position of the uterus. If the recommend IVF guessing it may have an impact.

The same thing happened to me (retroverted on one scan, fine on the next) My doctors didn't seem to make anything of it.

I was informed that having a retroverted or anteverted uterus does not affect fertility and likened it to being right or left handed! Hope you are recovering after the lap xxx

From what i was told the uterus is normally mobile. Mine is and always has been retroverted however I have endo and the uterus is stuck to my bowel which is why it is being pulled back. Having smears is a nightmare. My tubes weren't compromised so they never said it effected fertility.

Are you going to have ivf? If so they give you a baseline scan to check the uterus and the ovaries before you start.

I'm not sure about IVF, waiting for the follow up doctors appointment. I know it's one of the options and it mentions to have a full bladder for embryo transfer.
