Embryo transfer

Hi

I am in awe of all of you lovely ladies

My daughter has had 9 eggs fertilised. They say they are good quality but may transfer the embryo tomorrow or Monday. Does anyone know what difference it will make, and why they are not sure which day yet?

It is my daughter's first ICSI cycle. She doesn't want to join the forum but I just want to understand the process.

The embryologist will decide the best time to do the transfer based on how the embryos develop. If they have lots to choose from they usually try to let them develop outside the womb to blastocyst level (which takes 5days) as this gives them more information to try to grade the embryos and decide which will be the most likely to become a baby after they put it back. However, if there aren't many or they don't look like they're developing well, most embryologist decide that the best place for the embryos is inside the womb, so they do a two or three day transfer. Basically, for most couples, not all the embryos which fertilise will develop normally and some won't even survive. If they get to blastocyst then you're more likely to have some that are good enough to freeze as well.

Hi there yeah just as the lady wrote in previous post they look for good quality and see how well they respond . I had 11 eggs at the start but was only left with 5 after 5 days . I had one embryo transferred and now have a beautiful little boy . Tell your daughter not to worry and good luck with everything x
