1 week until my big meeting... what can I expect

Hi all

I can't believe this moment is finally here. 1 week today we go to the ivf clinic and they tell us what treatment they are going to give us, make us sign the consent forms and give us a date.

What can I expect at this meeting? Is the waiting really over? Will it be quite quick from here of will they tell me I can start in like a years time? Also do you get a say in when you start or are you just given a date and that's it?

What else happens at this meeting? I'm told to allow an hour and a half...

Any advice appreciated ๐Ÿ˜€

Take the last dates of your last few periods as they start to plan the whole treatment cycle. If your regular i guess it's not as important and it's all ok to shift a few days if your late or early.

If all the tests are complete and blood work, smear is all in date then this might be the start.

In regard to dates if there's anything you need to avoid then just let them know. I just missed the timing on one cycle and had to wait for the next to start treatment. Good luck x

We have a festival planned in Aug and s holiday booked in sept so ideally wouldn't want to start before October. I didn't want to put my life on hold waiting around, but now wish I hadn't made plans... hope they can accommodate. I could miss the festival but don't want to loose out on the holiday as would loose our money...

Is the holiday long haul or in a zika zone?

For long protocol you get your period and then start counting, on day 21 you start DR and that lasts for a fair few weeks before you start stimming where you need to be around for scans.

I took a quick week work trip to Poland during DR. Flew with drugs and syringes in hand luggage with no problems. Just had a letter from the clinic with me just incase and had to be careful to inject around the same time. If you take all your dates along they hopefully can figure a workaround.

We also have our consent appointment next Tuesday. Been feeling very emotional this weekend knowing it's finally almost here but at the same time worried that more hurdles will pop up before being able to start. I'm sure you shouldn't have a problem putting it off until October, in cycles it's really not that long.

On my appointment 9th may we went over my history (I took it all with me) sign some forms discussed treatment, put on metformin due to high amh levels and was given the pill to take and that a nurse would call me within 4 weeks to make an appointment and to tell me when to start the pill, think I got the call 3 days before the 4 weeks was up, the. Was told to start pill on 2nd day of my June period and booked in for all my dates:

3rd July - nurse appointment to go over injections & treatment and to also have hepatitis and hiv again as mine are well over 3 months.

18th July baseline scan and start injection

26/28 more scans

31st EC

3/5 days later ET

Dates are as long as all goes to plan I'm guessing I'll find out more Monday,

I'm base in kent and every clinic is different, our appointment lasted 90 mins also,

And my hubby also had to do a sample on that day and results was discussed in our consultation that day,

Hope it all goes well, wishing you lots of luck on your journey ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€ xx

It sounds as if you will be good to go after this appointment. As others have said, make sure you take a note of your cycles as they will programme in dates at that point. We are starting our second cycle next week on long protocol so egg collection will be about the 4/5 August based on day 1 of my cycle being 15th June. We are also going on holiday in September so cycle will be finished one way or another so unless you're going somewhere where Zika is a consideration I would say just go for it!! If it works - then you get to enjoy some time the 2 of you & if it doesn't - then you have time to deal with it on your own. (I'm sure it will work for you though!!) Good luck next week x
