Hello lovely ladies and gents. I hope everyone is okay and doing well.

apologies for deleting the earlier post.

I have reached a point where i just feel flat. i just feel its one hurdle after another. my stress levels are getting worse. At my recent appointment which was to discuus if i fell pregnant on clomid which ididnt. the next step is go for ivf.

I was told at the clinic that i only get one ivf go. i just didnt know what to say. i know this is normal for many of us here but why has it taken 2.5 years just to find out.

why has the clinic not mention this to me before. why did my gp not mention this to me before ref me to a clinic. i didnt think to ask either. all this is very new to me im finding out more and more. i m still struggling to understand all the rules and regulation and polices. if i knew this before i could have changed my gp surgery alot earlier.

I now want to change gp surgery. as far as i know i can change surgery to east and north part of england which will allow me to have 3 goes at ivf. But i do not know where to start. how do i switch gp surgery. i dont even know which gp surgery fall within the east and north of england. Where do i look. how do i find out. guys im now thinking about that may never have a baby. becuz of this stress and things are just keep changing.

I know im really lucy to have even 1 try at ivf. im greatfull. but its only try and if i dont get my baby then what i will do where i will go. i probably have a breakdown.

it is true when the ladies on here say. the ivf journey is just so hard verrrrrrrrry hard.

Please help me ladies any advice any support any guidance is welcome.sory for the long post

xxxx

The whole postcode lottery is so unfair. As if the whole infertility isn't unfair enough. I am in the NW and have 3 cycles but I believe they were limiting it to 2 which is why the rushed our paperwork through xxx

Hi there, I can't really help but I understand what you are going through. We waited 2yrs to get referred to our 1st clinic where we got offered 3 goes...but just before we started we had to move 120 miles away for work (we had no choice) We chose a county 1hr from work because it also offered 3 goes...my funding appointment got moved back by 2mths and then 10 days before our new appointment they changed the funding from 3 goes to 1!! We couldn't believe it as we didn't find out until we had started treatment...so unfair!!!...and now I'm stuck with a 1 hour commute to the office xx

O M G.......O M G....... Thats is just heart breaking. honestly im so sorrry. All these rules and polices suck reallly really suck. All that eefort and time spent in moving and last mint they do this. how unfair uncareing. Did you appeal?

When you went to your new clinic did the new clinic ask you to do all the basic tets again and were you put at the back of the queue again or the new clinic picked up from where you left off your treatment. I f did move to a new county the rules could change within a few weeks. Is it true that i dont need to move county but just more gp surgery to be eligiable for 3 goes. nut even then the rules could change at that new surgery in that new county. Just dont know what to do. stick to where im at the momment or move.xxxx

I think others have said they may ask that you've been on the GP books for a minimum amount of time before they will refer you and they decide if it's months or years. Think most clinics will repeat the tests if there's too much time gone in between them.

It's not as simple as move gps locally as you need to come up with a good reason why you want to move from your local surgery. Unfortunately you cant just sign up miles away as they have catchment areas and will check when your postcode comes up.

Look at ccg guidelines on the fertility fairness website. It defines the ccg boundaries and gives funding criteria for each which might help give you some info.

Thanks for your reply. i have read the policy for east and north areas and it does mention i have to be registered at the new surgery fr 12 months + . And the other thing is my hubby is looking to chanage his job so this will also be another reason why we would move to another county. so i was thinking if we do move to another county we might aswell move somewhere that will allow us 2 or 3 chances at ivf. Yes your are right there has to be good reason why we would want to move. Thank you for your reply. xxx

emmab178 in reply to bibi_16

Oh I meant if you tried to move Gps in your local area you would need good reason. For instance we are at a surgery just outside their catchment, when I tried to register they asked why I hadn't gone with the ones slightly closer (talking about half a mile distant). My reason was the Dr of the local surgery lives across the road and it's too close to home and they checked and agreed this was a valid reason and accepted us.

Glad you found the info you needed hopefully if you do move they don't change the rules. The only region where they seem to be making things better is Scotland all others look to be cutting.

In Hampshire the age limit for ivf is 34 and if you want to appeal you have to plead your case to Michael gove! What a joke. some ccg have completely pulled all funding all together. Absolutely disgusting. What's the point in having NICE guidelines in the first place.

Rant over.

It's so annoying isn't it!! We live in yorkshire & we were only entitled to 1 free go which sucked as it didn't work and we've had to pay for it (luckily as we've had a BFP now the money doesn't bother me as I would have paid ️️whatever was needed) we tried to argue our case (I currently have a rare form of cancer which requires my uterus to be taken amongst other organs- but that's another story) and even then we still only got one go free! I hope you manage to get moved and get those 3 free goes xx

Hey sweetie. Im so sorry that you have had a tough time. It is unfair. How do they get away with post code lottery. Its discusting horriable makes me sick. Annoyed. Im so sorry that u didnt your positive on ur first go and totally not fair u had to pay for second go. However its defo worth it for that little diamond you have. I have spoke to hubby hesaid its better just to stick with where v r at and carry on with the 1st ivf go . Treatment starts in about 8-9 months and untell then we have planned to do iui. I was wondering if u k ow any clinics that do good iui or ivf deals and are good in general. Thanks sweetie for your reply.xxxx

If you do end up with only one round of Ivf (which is more and more of England), remember that some private clinics offer finance deals where you can get money back if you don't fall pregnant. This might help.

We are given one free fresh cycle and one FET free, unfortunately they didn't get any to freeze from our fresh cycle so we lost out on the FET, so we now have to save and pay. As lizzie said about lots of clinics do deals and money bk. don't panic about the what ifs Hun, because for all you know you will get caught first time, and if not then you will find the money from somewhere Hun as a lot of us on here have had to and now got there BFP, you will find that you do anything to get a baby, sorry I can't help on the changing gps tho.

I wish you luck on your journey lovely xxxx

Hi hun. Thanks for your reply. My hubby also said that its better to just stay wehre v r at. We have come a long way. And its going to be more stress involved in moving and theres just so much to learn about the guidelines and they change when ever. Im coming round to the idea of just staying where i am.but not 100 yet. Also i can have iui before ivf this wont effcet out ivf go amd hunby said its a good idea to give iui ago. Do u know any clinics that might go good ivf and iui deals. Thanks hun. Xxxx

We used access fertility so they might be worth checking out, we did a multi cycle refund programme so if you don't get your baby then they refund between 50-100% of what you have had to pay out depending on what package you go for- defo worth a look at xx

We had one fresh cycle and believed that would include any frozen embryos. However when our fresh failed the clinic told us that our fet was not included in our NHS treatment and we had to fork out over £2000. We've since discovered without shadow of a doubt that we should have had the fet funded and are waiting on a reimbursement from the ccg x

How annoying. I hope they pay up. We are the same here, one fresh and one frozen if you get any from the funded fresh cycle.

Tugsgirl profile image
Tugsgirl in reply to Lizzielizzielizzie

It was supposed to include all frozen embryos but after we've had our "positive" I don't know if we'll get the others funded... Still haven't received anything from the ccg and it's been a month x

I just rang them off the back of this post and they assured me they would chase up our refund this morning and email the clinic to say that our three remaining embryos should be covered by funding x

Hey honey. Hope ur okay. Hows ur lovely partner.x if theres no doubt they better pay you back honestly fed up of these rules and regulation. When i went for my app they consultant asked me questions that i already provided letters and answers for its like tje dr and consultants dont talk to each. Its like the right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doing. I realll do hope u get every penny bk. Lots of love honey. Xxxx

Hi Hun, my advice would be don't move away from everyone you care about for an extra go, when it could work first time! You will need lots of support on this journey. We are in the south and had 3 attempts with 6 FETs, However that changed right before we started to 2 goes, and we only got one frozen embryo over those two cycles, so had one FET, did get a bfp and sadly miscarried. So although on paper all those FETs was great, I just didn't get the embryos to use them. I think my point is you can't predict what will happen, in 12 months time they may have scrapped IVF on the NHS completely, so perhaps take the go you've got and hopefully you will get your baby xxx

Yoir right honey me and hubby decided that its better to just stik to where v r at. Ithink changing clinics gp is going so even more stressfull. Amd yes ur right it could work and if doesnt then we will have to save up. Me and hubby r very lonely here in england as all the family is in scotland that was another reason was thinking to move either wothon england or closer to family. I have no one here. Just one frnd from work. Hey honey do u know any clinics that do good iui or ivf deals me and hubby are planning to give iui ago before going for ivf and the iui doesnt effevt our ivf. Thanks hun.xxxx

As others have said I think you need to be local to the area to sign up to a gp, but if you're thinking of moving anyway you might as well seek out an area that offers funding - although all may change depending on the election results! I live in SW London and was offered no rounds on the NHS, so in my book anything's better than nothing! Good luck xx

Hi sweetie. That is extremly unfair . Extremlyyyyyyy. They have to change all these different rules and make one rule for everyonne like give everyone the same amount of goes. Im so very sorry for that its just rubbish.your right i should just apprecite the one go im getting. N hope for the best. Hey sweety do u know any good clinics that do ivf or iui deals. Many thanks .xxx

If there's one thing I've learnt from the journey it's that life isn't fair - however I have also been very, very lucky. I have a beautiful son from a successful first ICSI round, so I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm afraid I don't know of any clinics that do deals, but I'm sure some of the lovely ladies on here can help. Xx

Yeah, ivf journey is always brings hard time into your life.. It was the same with me.. but it even hundred times harder if it ends in failure.. Now I'm about to let it a go with an ivf in Ukrainian clinic. One of the reasons is that it deprives us from those tortures that put us in that lottery and make us wait in the queues each new time. They have packages that allow unlimited number of ivf attempts, good donor base and that way we don't have to wait until they find one but even have an opportunity to choose up to 5 of them possessing the appearance you might like

Hope you'll be lucky this time x
