Do you take your injections on day 1 of your period or wait for a scan (short protocol)

Hello,

I started my period this afternoon - I am guessing easter sunday is not a great day as the hospital is closed. I was wondering if I needed to wait for your first scan or if you should take the injections as of day 1?

What did your clinic say you have to do?? Mine count day 1 as the first morning you wake up bleeding x

My clinic started me off on day 2 but said it could have also been day 3. Call them as soon as you can, I'm sure you'll be fine.

My clinic had an out of hours nurse? If I called the number they gave me the mobile number. Have you tried that to see if you can speak to someone? x

You normally have a scan first - my scan was Day 3 of my bleed and they said I was ready to start injections that night x

You need to have a baseline scan before starting stims. I had mine on Day 3 and started stims that evening xx

I usually had a baseline scan on the first or second day of my period, but the last time I agreed to start the injections straight away on D1 as I was away.. call out of hours helpline if you're not sure what was agreed. Good luck!! xoxo

just to add that you don't necessarily have a baseline scan before stims, contrary to what others have said - I think it depends on the clinic and the protocol. My clinic just told me to start my injections on day one of my cycle, my first scan wasn't until day 6 of stimming. The only thing my clinic said was to not to start injections on a Friday as that would have meant my second scan on day 9/10 of stims would have fallen on the next weekend when they would have been closed. If you're not sure what your clinic said I'd try calling the out of hours line xx

Thanks everyone. I didn't realize day 1 was when you woke up bleeding ! So much information to take in!

I spoke to the nurse this morning - when they opened and I am looking forward to starting...
