It has been a while!

So its been a year since my first and only ICSI cycle failed. I have to say that what I felt was the worst year of my life was because of this actually wasn't. A lot of things have happened....I changes jobs (it was very much a necessity) my husband and I grew closer together not only because of this experience but because he was away for 3 months because of work (this is not the norm for us. We are usually joint at the hip!), I became an auntie again to a lively niece (3 nephews and 2 nieces and another baby coming august), i went on holiday (again a necessity), found out who was really there for me, I can probably say now also that a am less in depression and of course the biggest thing of all.... we began the process to adopt. This is probably more nerve wrecking than waiting to start fertility treatment! We are very much excited to think we can make a difference to a childs life! I feel that no matter what road you travel and how hard or difficult it can be there will always be a reward at the end of it! You can never plan your life because someone else has a plan for you! πŸ˜ƒ

Good luck. I've really enjoyed the training but mostly the chance to meet other people in the same situation xx

Thank you for sharing this xx

With this process its hard to see past fertility/infertility situation we are all in. It consumes you and takes over your life. You post has made me realise that you really need to take a step back and look at what we do have to offer, the bigger picture.

Thank you and also wishing you well with the rest of the process and therafter. Xx

Thank you so much! Yea the acceptance and grievance to get past our fertility issues was hard and still is. It was actually my really close friend who put it in perspective for me when I had mentioned we were thinking about it. She pointed at her 2 year old daughter and said if i was given the opportunity how could i not give love to a child liker her. I swear ever since that i knew we were doing the right thing!

That is amazing. Adoption is a wonderful thing and although I was very lucky to have a successful icsi, we still desperately want to adopt one day. I hope it all goes well for you

Wifey90, this may sound silly but a few years ago I read a children's book about adoption and there was this lovely little quote accompanied by a Quentin Blake illustration and it said: 'Mother-less baby and baby-less mother. Put them together to love one another.' I have long been thinking of adoption and I wish you and your husband all the best luck!
