Sore ovaries during stimming - any advice?

Hi everyone,

I'm in the stimmimg stage of my 2nd ICSI cycle, and I'm experiencing quite a bit of pain in my ovaries (especially the left one|).

Has anyone else got/had any experience of this? If so, any tips on managing it?

H xx

Hi Helsroo,

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do - as they are going to be a bit sore.

I was in quite a bit of pain with mine - I did find hot water bottles helped to ease it and baths were also good for me!

Thank you, I'll give that a try xx

I found hot water bottles also helped during stims xxx

Mine were a bit painful, especially the left, it's the side I always cramp badly on during ovulation too. I also had bloating and my stomach felt like it was really hanging and heavy. Other than drinking plenty of water and taking paracetamol for any pain I didn't do anything else. My clinic advised no hot water bottles at all during treatment but I see others on here recommending to use one up until transfer.

Mine's sore on the left-hand side too, and I'm getting some back pain. Thanks for replying - I guess I just have to grin and bear it and hope that it means loads of lovely follicles!

I had 14 mature eggs collected from my follicles so you could be onto something there 😉

I wasn't in a lot of pain, but definitely felt them if that makes any sense.

Keep your fluid intake up and try to take it easy. There's a lot going on down there.

The nurses did say I could take paracetamol at the time.

Best of luck... 🍀

How long on stims did it take to be painful? I'm on day 4 on 300 dose of menopur and apart from needle pain on injection nothing else. I'd like a little discomfort to know something's happening (maybe I will take that statement back if I feel the discomfort!)

Headaches have started though :-(

It took a few days - and this time was worse than the first time.

The headaches aren't much fun, are they? Take it as easy as you can.

Hi lovely, I had some pain with mine too and like the other ladies have stated hot water bottles can help massively (only up to transfer day), take paracetamol and drink alllllll the water you can lol! Peppermint tea can help with any bloating you have too, best of luck for your EC and ET :) xxxx
