Hi Amy,
I was in exactly the same position as you 16 months ago. I had a laparoscopy where they diagnosed me with Stage 4 endometriosis. My consultant also told me that I should arrange for a fertility referral as I was unlikely to conceive naturally due to tubal and ovary damage. I was devastated. My husband and I had been married for 16 months at that point and had been trying for a family for 2 years. Anyway, fast forward 16 months and I am 15 weeks pregnant following my first round of NHS funded IVF treatment. My advice is not to give up. It doesn't mean the end of your dream to have children. Take care and feel free to contact me at any time if you gave any questions or just want to offload. Karen xx
Thank you so much for your reply Karen, congratulations! its great to hear such a positive outcome, i thought i had bad ibs for 5 years and only found this out recently and the extent of how bad it had got, so been a bit of a shock and emotional roller coaster! I know that in my last op i lost some of my ovary due to a large cyst but he said it should still be functional but i have a follow up in 3 weeks to hopefully ask more questions as he also freed and unblocked my tubes because they were stuck down the back of my womb but he did say my womb had a lot of scarring? Like you said I've just been feeling devastated as all me and my husband wanted was a baby and now this! xxx
Hi amy-28. Hopefully they will have lasered as much f the endometriosis as possible during your laparoscopy. This ill then give you your best chance of conceiving naturally, or increase your chance of success should you need to progress to IVF. Fingers crossed with it all. Diane
