Anyone had positive results despite low number of follicles during stimulation?

I am on day 9 of stimulation and even though we only have about 5 follicles of decent size the doctor has scheduled me for EC on Thursday (I am 44 hence we do not know if it would be any different if we waited for another cycle). I am trying to remaining optimistic even though the odds are against me... Has anyone had success with low number of follicles? This is the second time we are trying and I am not sure I would be able to handle the emotional roller coaster one more time...

Hi Mary, I only had 5 this time round, 3 fertilised, 2 are frozen and one is baking well, I'm nearly 12 weeks. Stay positive, it only takes one. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

My husband's boss had like a ridiculously low number of follicles and ended up with only one embryo making it to day 3 and she got pregnant and has a lovely baby boy now. It's possible so don't give up hope xxx

Dear MaryKNS, I don't think it matters about the number of follicles so much it's about the quality of the eggs and it only takes one! I too will follow your journey, I'm 43 and will start my first IVF soon. Wishing you all the best and stay as positive as you can. X

Hi Mary - by EC I had 8 follicles which is a relatively low number. From 8 follicles I to 8 eggs, 4 fertilised and 2 made it to ET. I got a BFP but sadly mc later, though the reasons for that are unknown. The point is that BFP is possible with a low number of follicles/eggs. Have to keep the faith 🙏🏼 good luck x x x

Hi Mary, I'm 43 and have done 3 ECs over last 6 months as I was advised by my clinic it would give me a better chance with my own eggs. We now have 6 embryos in the freezer and will be attempting our first transfer soon. My egg count / success rate was 4 eggs to 2 embryos, then 3 eggs to 1 embryo, then 4 eggs to 3 embryos on the final round. I think at our age we are doing pretty well to be getting any decent embryos from our own eggs. But as other ladies have said it does only take one, and I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you and for me that we will find the one we want.
