Interestingly article I enjoyed reading it. I have been TTC for many years and have attempted to try various supplements better diets and leave off caffeine, sugar, running -  the list is endless and it drives me nuts.  Drug addicts have babies and 'healthy' women can't conceive. It's a mystery and a head wrecker for the educated woman who just wants to have a baby in the safest and best way possible.

Good luck to all on this journey xx

Yes it's a valid point youngster. It's strange how things happen sometimes. Women who are not even trying and drinking and eating what they shouldn't get pregnant right away. And healthy women trying everything have issues ...

I meant it's a valid point you make . Not youngster- silly autocorrect . Haha

It seems the jury is out on this one. I was a decaf drinker before, during and after my mcs from natural conceptions and before, during and after our 3 failed cycles of ICSI. Who knows? Perhaps it's part of the jigsaw for those of us with fertility issues as mrsjj points out other women get pregnant when they eat whatever they like, drink alcohol and caffeine , smoke, take illegal drugs etc. The only thing we were told to avoid was alcohol in the 3 months before and during treatment and after EC/ET. This included hubby too, I said he could have a few drinks after he'd done his bit of the process but generally he didn't drink. As didn't drink much any way so it wasn't hard to cut it out but it made no difference as we got 3 BFNs. The clinic advised to avoid the foods that women should avoid in pregnancy but as I didn't  them anyhow it wasn't an issue. My hubby was in calorie deficit as he commutes to work by bike, our acupunturist explained that if the body is deprived of calories it focuses on key function so could effect sperm production, hubby has low sperm count, poor swimmers etc. She advised he ate seeds and healthy snacks to top up his calories. No idea if it made any difference as his sperm samples were variable.

It's something I heard recently too about cutting caffeine to increase chances of conception. Someone has come out with a book on infertility and this was a point she made.

I gave it up for previous natural pregnancies but they all ended in miscarriage and then I found out I had something medically wrong with me. I tried giving up for IVF but I gave in and have been drinking 2-3 cups of tea every day but no more than this and I don't drink coffee. So far so good with the pregnancy.

For me, caffeine wasn't the cause of my miscarriages but perhaps there is some truth about the link with conception difficulty because I did find it difficult to conceive after my miscarriage and ended up with IVF. I was back to taking caffeine at that time.
