Firstly, welcome to the forum! There are so many lovely women (and a few men I think) who can offer support and advice who've been through it all. I hope the tests don't take too long and are fairly straightforward for you. I know what it's like waiting for what feels like an age to get things moving and that seems to be a running theme throughout all the treatment so I find just looking to the next appointment and not too far ahead helps. We've been TTC for 4 years with IUI/IVF for the last year and a half, about to do IVF number 3, so fingers crossed. I hope you get your dream of becoming a mum sooner rather than later.

Hi welcome to the forum, it's amazing how supportive the ladies (and men) are on here. Any questions you have just ask away. I'm about to start IVF cycle 1 after trying to concieve (TTC) for 2 years. Have a look at the abbreviations list on here (there's a link to them in one of my first posts if you click on my name and then posts). This will help with some of the jargon and you'll pick it up in no time. Don't panic about the whole process, it will feel like ages before your first appointment but when the ball gets rolling it will speed up. Each appointment to will be designed to give you information or to monitor how progress is so be prepared for dates etc to change depending on how your body reacts to hormones....this is completely normal because we're all different. The best advice I've been given is to do some background reading (it keptme sane) (a list of books is on one of my older posts) and to do the best prep for your body (giving up caffiene, a good diet and exercise...and obviously no smoking if you do). You'll need to give up alcohol too but I'd wait until you get a start date first as the odd glass of red was needed for me in the early days! Other than that, try not to panic and take each day as it comes. Focus on the next stage you're going into rather than all the hoops to jump through after that. We chose to only confide in close family and friends and whilst they're supportive they don't "understand" like the people on here, so use this forum as much as you can.

Just wanted to offer my support! Hope everything goes well for you. It can sometimes feel over whelming but if you get a good clinic they will look after you & make sure everything's good. Good luck, best advice I can give you is to stay positive and try and keep calm, I think being happy during the cycles makes a big difference. Easy to say I know, but I think distractions and being cheerful do wonders for the soul! Xx
