Hey Hun I am one of the lucky ones IVF worked 1st time for me. I had 2 eggs put back and had twins in October last year.

Lots of luck for all the ladies out there going through this emotional journey. xx

Oh that's really lovely to here . They will only put 1 egg in for me , it's strange how it varies from place to place . Did you go nhs or private ?

It does vary place to place hun but also depends on other things like age, health, risk factors.

I went private hun as where I live you don't get funded if your hubby has a child from a previous relationship. x

2nd go succeeded for us. I went private for 2nd go, they recommended I transfer two due to my age, but I chose one as we only had three embryos and didn't want to lose two in one go. Also felt I already had high natural chance of having twins if one split.

I think if you're older they are more likely to allow two, but the NHS backs the HFEA policy to avoid multiple births and the waiting room at NHS was full of posters advising against more than one embryo. If you're private you have more say in one or two.

Best wishes, xxx

I'm also a first timer and now 14.5 weeks with twins. Also had 2 embryos transferred, for various medical reasons. Chances of first cycle being successful is about 33%. Chances of twins with 2 embryos is 25%. Clinics prefer to only transfer one because of the potential complications for a multiple pregnancy.

Hi, Aimaim! To my greatest regret I'm not among the first and even the second timers. To make it clear I'm still no timer at all. This is all because of my birth defect - malformation of the womb plus heart disease. You know that feeling like you hope for better. So earlier we didn't put much trust in this diagnosis and following the unproffessional consultant's advice applied for IVF. We passed two cycles, each ending in implantation failure. Miracle didn't happen..

Now we are considering surrogacy option as the only possible one for us. I'm 37, feeling the time goes by.. Sometimes I find myself at the thought I'll never be a mother. I'm still making my thought for surrogacy as a strange woman is to have connection to the process. I do wish this could be just me! But there is no other way out. So our fingers crossed we'll get the needed info.

Sorry for my nagging and wish you good luck!

I'm a successful first timer with ICSI. Currently 24 weeks pregnant. We had one embryo transferred in with a further 3 frozen. Our issue was low sperm count and poor motility on DH side and mild PCOS on my side (which mainly manifested itself as low progesterone/short luteal phase). Good luck with your cycle!

Hi

Just though it would say hi and say that we were so very lucky that our first attempt at IVF worked - now 21 weeks pregnant. We had to go down IVF route due to many factors and never in a million years did we think it would work - for us this was something that we had to try before we totally accepted that we were not meant to have children.Boy we are glad we did!!

We were only allowed one blastocyst put back but it really does work.

Good luck xx
