So .. We have our first appointment at the fertility clinic on Thursday. Just wondering what to expect? They've sent me a questionnaire to check my 'eligibility to look after a child' this made me a little angry.. Why are all the drug addicts and alcoholics not given this questionnaire then may there wouldn't be as many unwanted babies

I felt exactly the same when we had to sign those papers. We signed them in clinic when we met the fertility consultant for the first time. She discussed the results she'd got from my GP and decided I needed a laparoscopy as my infertility was unexplained so then we went through the consent for that. The next time I saw her was at surgery and now I'm waiting to see her again to discuss IVF. Things don't happen quickly it might be different for you a lot depends on waiting lists and whether you are private or NHS.

Wishing you all the best x

Oh gosh how patronising is that questionnaire??!! I felt the same as you, we've got all the pain and heartache of struggling to concieve and then insulted to ask if we take drugs or violent etc!!

Anyway after that first appointment on 9th April, I had around 10 blood tests, blood dyed and then xray pictures and then a small camera inserted to measure my cervix etc. I'm sorry I don't know the names of the procedures lol!! We had all of our results back on 4th June and now on the waiting list for IVF, its a tough few months, and although nerve-racking its an exciting time too!! Good luck sweetie! Xxx

Haha fell me about it, people I know get off their face, have a one night stand then 9 months later pops one out. Here me dying to be a mummy and then being asked if I'll harm my baby. - not that I'm bitter or anything haha!! Have you heard anything else from fertility clinic? Xxx

Hello.

Different clinics can work in slightly different ways.

When we got our initial consultant appointment through for a date at the beginning of November, we also had to attend before to have a baseline scan, AMH blood test and sperm sample. This enabled them to review the results and make suggestions about what type of treatment we should have. We filled out some forms, met a nurse and the consultant and discussed starting dates. I had to call up on day one of my cycle and from there we attended on another day to go through more paperwork, had injection practice and were given our treatment plan.

Our first injection was Christmas Day and by the beginning of February we were doing a pregnancy test.

Try not to get stressed about the paperwork side of stuff. It's annoying as you say that some people just have kids as accidents etc, but to the clinics it's just a paperwork tick off.

It's good to write down questions to take them with you x
