Conceiving after endo surgery.

Hi Ladies, so I've been browsing on here for a little while, not really sure whether to post or not but here goes...(sorry if it's a bit long!)

I'm 27 in a few weeks, and my husband is 31, we've been trying to conceive for just over 2 years. After numerous tests, I had surgery in June 2014 to remove a mass of endometriois that was sitting between my uterus and bladder. They removed part of my bladder as it had infiltrated the wall, it was quite major surgery, but after 3 months of prostap I'm now virtually pain free. Two other small patches were lasered during surgery also.

The advice from my consultant was once periods return after prostap, get trying and if we don't catch with in 6 months then we need to see him again...well no success yet so I'm due to go back end of May to see my consultant and hopefully he'll have some advice for us.

It's been the longest and most stressful 2 years of my life, and I fear it may get worse. My husband is a huge support, but it's starting to take its toll...! I just feel like....'GIVE US A BREAK!!!!' I'm starting to get anxious when people ask us about starting a family, I feel like shouting 'WE'RE TRYING REALLY REALLY HARD BUT IT JUST AINT HAPPENING!'

What can we expect to be the next step? Are we likely to be offered any fertility treatment?

Thanks in advance for any response xxx

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time; 2 years is the norm before they help you so I'm presuming you'll now be referred to a Fertlity consultant - they usually want more tests & scans so this can take a few months. If they decide on IVF once your period starts it all begins & speeds up - rough estimates from my treatment: tests in Nov, IVF appointment in Dec, Started period & drugs in Jan plus completed all legal paperwork, egg collection end of Feb, egg transfer start if March - treat each step as a hurdle & be happy you make it to each one. The waiting & sticking to the drugs timetables is the hardest bit, but it's worth it - I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant after first cycle & had loads wrong (slow tubes, polysystic ovaries, endometriosis, fibroid, low good sperm with hubbie) - they can work wonders these days, just try stay positive x

Thank you for replying, and congratulations, you must be thrilled! Part of me hopes it still may happen naturally as apart of the endometriosis, which is now removed we're all good. My tubes, ovaries and , hormones levels good, as well as my husbands sperm. We did preliminary testing last year when I was diagnosed, but maybe they'll want to do it all again. Did you have your IVF on the NHS? Your time frame looks pretty good, considering I've heard lots of people wait 2 years after being referred! I don't think I can go through this heart ache for another 2 years. 😥

We're very happy 😊although the worry of getting to 12 weeks & beyond is tough. It's fab that you can still conceive naturally, we were told it's not impossible but it would be a challenge - I was just relieved to not loose my tubes 👍 yes it was NHS in Gloucestershire & there was no waiting list, I think that's what slows people down usually. Feeling very lucky as we get 3 x IVF cycles which gives me hope if things didn't work out 🙏 Enjoy trying - will keep my fingers crossed for you 🍀 x
