My partner (Transgender male) and I are going to try to conceive a baby via IVF through the NHS. Is anyone here in the same situation as us or know someone like this? Is this funded through the NHS?

What's the procedure?

Hey Hun you will have to pop along and make an appointment with your GP to start the process. Same sex, transgender couples are entitled to all the same funding I believe. (As long as there are no children from previous relationships etc).

Best of luck! Get on that ladder to progression! Xx

I do know the NHS doesn't cover donor gametes, so you'll have to take care of that bit. You also have to do a couple of counselling sessions about using a donor. Like how you explain to your child about it, etc. Just FYI, there are some great children's books about it. "Mummy and Daddy wanted to have a baby, they went to the doctor because IT wasn't as easy for them as other people, etc... It's not so bad!

UK means that the child at 18 can learn about their donor, so if you want completely anonymous you'll have to go abroad.

It's a long journey and process, good luck. Start at the GP! They have to refer you.
