Im 41 and been ttc for nearly 3 yrs. I have had 4 pregnancys in my teens and 20s.have new partner who has no kids. Have had all tests. Everything ok. Sperm good. My hormone count is 12.5. Was 10.5 last year. . Waiting for scan results to be found as nhs have lost them. Been told unlikely to even consider ivf if scan results show poor follicle count. Anybody any info? Or similar experience.

Hi lisaoggy. So annoying to find out that your scan results have “gone missing”! Let’s hope they are soon found and some decision can be made about possible treatment for you. Sadly, if your antral follicle count is low, it can prove difficult to stimulate your ovaries to produce eggs during an IVF cycle – if that is what has been suggested you have. If this is the case, then it may be that you will be advised to use an egg donor, in order to give you a better chance of conceiving. I assume that the 12.5 reading is your FSH level?? If it is, this too is showing that your fertility is in question. I really do wish you both well with whatever is eventually decided for you, and I’m sure your consultant will give you the best advice as to what treatment might be available to you. Let’s hope that you have the baby together that you so want. Diane
