symptoms settling causing anxiety

hi, I’m currently now 11 weeks + 1 day. I’ve noticed that the nausea has settled and I’ve started to feel a lot better the last few days. This is an IVF baby and I had a viability scan at 7 weeks and everything was normal. But now the nausea has settled I’m starting to worry something is wrong and I don’t have my 12 week scan until Wednesday. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes - approaching 12 weeks symptoms improve drastically for me and 2nd trimester I have barely felt pregnant apart from the growing bump.

Movement will start as you approach 20 weeks and this helps with the anxiety I found.

Best of luck with your scan - you will feel so much better when you see baby inside fit and well!

X

thank you. Glad everything going so well for you. That’s really reassuring. I don’t think I ever imagined how much anxiety I would have throughout this first trimester. Literally worry about every symptom or lack of symptom x

I know - it is totally normal. I think I have sent out similar posts.

Such long waits in between scans are so hard....

Hang in there!

Congrats! But sorry you are feeling like this. The short answer is yes I think probably we all feel like this, particularly if IVF and/or a history of miscarriages. I was a nervous wreck up to the 12 week scan, then fine for a few days, then between 13 and 15 weeks I have been TERRIBLE. Convinced the baby has died, then convinced that was intuition and so it definitely had. Worrying about cramps, worrying about lack of cramps, worrying about discharge, worrying about lack of discharge, you name it I have been worrying about it! I have hardly been sleeping and got myself into quite a dark hole.

I haven't found a solution to it, but I have taken a load of comfort in a few amazing girls on here messaging me and telling me they felt exactly the same and they have gone on to have their babies and all was well. I think its lack of control that's fundamentally the problem... but the fact they felt the same but it wasn't intuition and actually all was fine has been a huge help to me and I just keep trying to think positive.

Hopefully your little bump (or bloat!) will begin to show soon, and then like Eb says movement will follow and the reassurance will be there. I think the reality is we will always worry, but I think particularly around 10 to 18 weeks its particularly marked. Keep soldiering on xx

hi, thank you. And congratulations to you too. I agree I think it’s the lack of control is really hard. It is so reassuring to hear others felt the same and everything is ok with them x

Yes! Feel exactly the same! Ours is an IVF baby too. The nausea and other symptoms were so comforting but really fell away by about week 9 or 10 and I felt so worried. The 12 week scan was fine but I still don’t feel anything now at 14 weeks other than I’ve got a bit of a belly on me. I also had food poisoning and my flu and Covid boosters last week so was unwell all week and was convinced that would have had a negative impact. We’ve booked a private gender scan at 16 weeks but that feels a long way off. I’m just trying to keep calm and think positively but it’s really hard when you can’t see, feel or control what’s going on so I totally get how you feel. I guess we have to just try to be positive and think that we haven’t had any negative signs either so no reason to think all isn’t well. Plus after 12 weeks the chances of things going bad are very slim so that’s a comfort. Take care xx
