Is anyone taking blood thinning injections? I’m 34 weeks and I’m taking Inhixa (one a day) which I think is similar to Clexane and still injecting into the sides of belly. (I had to get over fear of hitting baby with the needle!).
Just wondering if anyone was injecting into thighs and if it was better? I am a complete wuss for either area but getting a small rash around bello. Just feels like thighs will be worse!
If you are injecting thighs - can I inject on the sides (eg love handles and below that) rather than from of thighs?
Hi NatsB. Can you use a smaller needle? Work in a smile shape from left to right under your belly button. Very slowly push needle in and inject slowly, then put needle out slowly. Legs are for intra muscular injections, and are a different type of fat. Good luck! Diane
thanks for reaponding. Needles are preloaded unfortunately. I feel really uncomfortable going under the belly as it’s so tight there so just keep using the side areas below belly button but it’s so itchy and now have a sort of bruise rash that I try to avoid. Will persevere!

Hey I am on these although way behind you in terms of pregnancy and almost already running out of space. I was told you could only do belly not thighs. I have the preloaded syringes so couldn’t change needle length (per Diane’s suggestion) I do however go up and down as well as left and right - so whilst I was always below my belly button I go as low as a myomectomy scar I have (same place as c section would be) and all the way up to just below belly button which gives me enough slots across my body to bruise every time but heal until I need to go back to that spot again! Hate them x

Thanks Daisy. I just have very few areas where I can even grab the belly underneath as it’s so tight now. Good luck with your pregnancy. I will persevere!
Hi Daisy. Hope you're going to do yours very slowly too! Slowly in, with needle, then inject slowly and remove needle slowly. Far less bruising. My ladies used to love me for my injection giving!!! Diane xx
Thanks so much Diane, I think its the air bubble, there is always a massive one inside the syringe but it very clearly states in the instructions you mustn't let that out - very odd. Will slow down a bit, I look like a Dalmation!! x
I had to inject myself into my tights as I was really bruised all over my belly and was too painful. I read on the leaflet that you can inject into your tight also. My skin was also so stretched on my belly that I couldn't grab any fat...
hi there, I have been injected myself with deltaparine since I am in my third trimester and always do it in my thigh, it's not that bad! I try to pinch some skin but sometimes I fail ! I hope it hasn't been too bad for you. Good luck
I stuck to my tummy...i tried once in my thigh and maybe I hit a wrong bit out of bad luck but it was painful so didnt try again. Inject slowly, it does help a little.
hello - I did Dalteparin in my thighs (top of them) all the way through. I think this is the only place in the leg you can do them. I’m not going to lie, it was quite sore, although sometimes worse than others and for some reason worse in one leg than the the other! 🤣 It manageable though and sitting and relaxing your leg muscles helps. You’ve not got too long to go with injections - you’ve got this! 💪 x
Hi NatsB, I’ve switched from belly to thighs as it started getting too painful around the belly and as the belly got bigger I found it quite difficult to pinch the skin. I prefer thighs as I find it less painful. From what I know it has to be top outer area of the thigh and you need to be sure you are injecting into the fat tissue and not muscle. I’ve got good amount of fat on my thighs so it works fine for me. I’d also echo that going as slowly as possible causes less bruising. I had bruises on both the belly and thighs - sometimes it would even leave a lump for a few days when I injected more quickly than anticipated but often I end up with a dark red / bluish spot on my thigh no matter how slowly I inject.
the lady at the pharmacy told me to put an ice cube on first then inject. (I was scared of infecting the area as waters not sterile from an ice cube) so I’ve held off, I agree with dianne I just do mine super slow. But can’t imagine how you ladies who are so far along with taught skin are doing it!
