Fallopian tube removal before IVF

I had surgery last October to try to open my tubes in order to conceive naturally, sadly the scar tissue from the surgery closed my tubes up again and now I'm waiting for more surgery to remove my tubes, this took a lot to get my head around and obviously devastating, I have got my head around it now but while I wait for surgery I'm in a lot of pain, and over the last week with the pain I have also been bleeding, currently I have not been able to get in touch with my surgeon and the Drs won't deal with me, I guess I'm looking to find out how normal this is and if I should be worried?

Fallopian tube blocked at a level that needs removal definitely mean there can be terrible pain and discomfort. I have heard this usually happens in case of salpingitis or like when you have ectopic though... but I know scar tissues can get really ugly sometimes. I'm not quite sure if you wanted to know your prospective of being able to conceive thereafter... but if is so then I'd say yes you can. Natural TTC definitely won't work with you anymore or not very frevolously. Well unless it's both the tubes being compromised there is slight chance that the one remaining might just be enough. Will surely require double the time though and I assume with all these you're quite not in the mood to wait persistantly. Then I guess IVF could help... in fact IVF is the best fit. It doesn't even requires the participation of the tubes. All you need to do is get well soon and begin your IVF journey. Good Luck!

Hi Thank you for your reply, sadly both tubes are blocked and they will not give me IVF until they have both been removed so I have to wait until at least November/December before I can have them removed and then I can have the IVF, the waiting just seems endless

Oh okay... but I don't think it should be any discouraging as you seems already quite ready to take IVF. I can understand the clinic wants to get done with removing your tubes and then go for IVF... it's good for the success rate as well. Also right now there must be medication that might not comply with the fertility. I hope all these gets over soon and you're able to get pregnant soon enough.

I have now had an appointment with the surgeon, due to my symptoms, she thinks its possible I might have the start of Endometriosis which wasn't there when she did the surgery last October, she is not too worried about this as she knows we will be removing my tubes at the end of the year, she has given me some tips on how to minimise the pain, I feel more at ease now I have seen her, thanks again for your reply

Oh that's really great that you've found relief from the suffering that has been tormenting you. Are you still on natural TTC just to check your luck or been abstaining till the procedure of IVF removal ? I have seen women on TTC even if they are waiting for some corrective procedure or endo or tubes removal even if there's no hope at all. Endometriosis is quite different from remobal of tubes so unless it's located in the section where or which will be removed. I guess your doc being a specialist must have checked it full and then decided it's not a worry at all. Hope this doesn't offends you am just curious. I will pray you get pregnant after the procedure... wish you all the luck in the world.

You're so kind, thank you, we aren't TTC naturally but she did say there is a small possibility, so we thought its a lot of effort to keep trying for over a year when you know the changes are so slim, especially with shift work, its hard to get the timings right but if it happens I'm at a high risk of Ectopic so I don't really want to get pregnant naturally anyway, I'm actually look forward to having the surgery to hopefully relieve the discomfort x
