Progynova treatment IVF

Hello ladies ! My ivf is scheduled very soon . I am on short cycle and on day 21 which is Thursday I have to start taking Progynova 8mg per day for 7 days . I just had a research and saw that in a large number of cases progynova stop follicles grow.

Did anyone took this ? Please advise ! Thanks

Hi Mushy! I start with progynova, than I will have meriofert injection to produce more eggs . I read on website that progynova might stop your follicles to grow, In which period of your cycle you had to take it ?

Just re-read your post and now understand your question better...

I used progynova for our FET and yes it is supposed to slow your follicles down but help with growing a healthy lining.

I didn’t use it in my first fresh round

Yes! This is my issues. Not sure why they gave me on my fresh cycle !

Hmmm I’m not sure i would definitely check with them before starting so you know exactly why...

I have heard of people taking contraceptive pills prior to treatment which wasn’t necessary for us but this could possibly be a reason.

Thanks Mushy! It could be a reason . Not sure why the gave me . Is not really logic to decrease the number and grow of follicles. They want to maximise chances . Hope so . I am 41 and they said I have a good AMH considering my age 9.7 , so without medication around 6/7 follicles. I would like to increase them not to decrease it !

Really stressful time ‘!

My EC was way back in May, only 7 retrieved, 5 were mature and fertilised.

It is a very stressful time.. I remember being so upset with my numbers as I expected more.

Quality over quantity I was told x

Hi Mushy ! Hope you are doing well ! I spoke with them and looks like this is the protocol they use for everyone in order to control the hormones. I have normally 7 follicles without stimulation so I am definitely expecting more , but with this progynova God Knows how many I will have ... they said Progynova stops follicles but I will start injections 2-5 days after I stop taking this medication.

How many follicles you normally have without any medication? 7 on egg retrieval not bad and 5 fertilised . If they good quality you can smash it 😘😊😘! Is really stressful time , How big were yours when they gave you trigger? This is another worry I have , not to trigger me when they are still small!

Oh atleast they have put your mind at rest...

I had 14 follicles at my baseline scan prior to egg retrieval so I was very shocked when only 7 was collected. Out of the 5 that fertilised 4 was a blastocyst by day 5 and 1 day 6. I was pleased.
