NASH - how long before early cirrhosis becomes stage 4?

How long before cirrhosis goes from early stage to end stage? I don’t fit the mold for this, however, a recent fibroscan showed stage F4 and 4 random liver biopsies confirmed cirrhosis. However my endoscopy was clear. I have dropped 24 pounds in 3 months with keto(low carb) and don’t have much more I could even lose. Off low dose metformin for diabetes.

If you have not decompensated and have stopped the progression, it isn't automatic that you would go to end stage disease. Losing the weight and maintaining a good diet and exercise program can allow your liver to heal a bit if you don't hit it with some other stressors. I was able to go from stage 4 cirrhosis to stage 3 by losing 40 pounds and my disease is currently idle and that was in 2015. You have a dangerous situation but it doesn't have to be a death sentence if you can take the pressure off the organ.

Sorry. I do take Metformin- 500 mg in the a.m. and 500 in the p.m. My second set of scans didn’t show anything suspicious so I’ve kind of ignored the whole thing as it was making me obsess about it. I’ve lost a little weight and my A1C has dropped a few tenths of a point. Good luck.
