I’m so overwhelmed by learning today that I have cirrhosis NASH. There is so much information. I’m full of questions and ready to do what I have to do to safe my liver. I grew up a southern cook and am to this day. So my husband of 46 yrs just told me he will eat whatever I eat. ❤️

Hi

First of all, welcome to this wonderful forum, you will get lots of compassion and advice on here.

You need to eat a high protein , low fat diet, also low carbs,(I think I'm right , I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong!!!

Have you been referred to a heptologist? If so, write down any questions you need to ask and write down the answers. Have you got someone to go with you to be an advocate? He/she could write down the replies you are given while you listen. Please, don't leave until you are happy. Make sure he sets the ball rolling I. E. Refers you for a CT scan or whatever he thinks is the right one for you to have done. I'm so pleased your husband is helping you. I am very lucky to have such a great support network and all of you on here. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

No I have not been referred yet. But I’ll talk to my dr. Thank you for the advice.

High protein would be my hardest change. I just got my gallbladder removed on Dec 3rd.

That’s how the dr found my liver issues. So he did a biopsy. My diet right now isn’t much due to feeling full after 2 or 3 bits.

I’m very excited about being on the forum and learning more. Thank you Lynne

Feeling full after 2 /3 bits seems to be the normal thing for a lot of people. The best advice that I was given is to eat very little and often, every couple of hours. For me it is high protein, low fat, no salt, low sugars but that is one of the questions to put on your list if there is an issue surrounding protein. Is it just meat protein or all.

This is a fabulous forum, I learnt so much more about what was happening and what to ask, where to go for more help. I hope it is the same for you.

Hi Bobbie try not to get too worried 😟 about your situation, we’re all in the same boat and we’re not going to let you drown. It’s so overwhelming to begin with, WHY HOW WHEN etc.

I think 🤔 following the Mediterranean type diet is the way to go, it’s so healthy, and varied you will find it difficult to run out of choices. Once you get into the swing of it you will enjoy 😊 I promise you.

Just let hubby, your family, friend’s and of course the forum take some of the stress and strain off you.

You will have good and bad days to start as we all have, just give yourself the time to re adjust to your up and coming new healthy lifestyle.

Welcome to the forum 🥰chrissie x

Thank you Chrissie

I am reading everything I can about diet. The Mediterranean sounds like the way to go.

Isn’t there a book about the Mediterranean diet?

I was told by my internist on Nov 9th that my scan came back fibrose between F3-F4. I have an appt in Jan 2020 with a gastro. The information that I have gotten on this forum has been amazing. Granted I have already lost 16 lbs from sheer fright. I am following all your advice on diet and exercise. You all have helped me tremendously. The most important thing I learned is that it doesn’t have to be a death sentence. Thank you all for your advise and good thoughts.

I was just told I'm up now to f3. Still waiting to meet again with gastro who specializes in liver issues. My December appt was pushed out to Jan.

I see what people write here, but I also want my doctor to help me understand exactly where I'm at. Being told I have mild cirrhosis as well.

Lately, maybe because of holidays, I've been eating more sugary snacks. Then I feel guilty.

This waiting is very depressing. I have zero energy. I know I'm not alone, but at home it feels like it.

Zero energy, depression,. Been there got the T / shirt 👚 exactly the same as 90 plus percent of the forum has.

All GPS tend to specialise in certain problems, maybe pay you to checkout if you have a Dr in your practice with an interest in Gastronomy. If you’re GP isn’t, they wouldn’t be offended if you asked if they were able to suggest someone who could help you with your questions. Chrissie x

Yes I understand. I have bouts of depression when I sit and think about what I’m dealing with. I try and stay busy. I joined water aerobics and try and go at least twice a week. This helps with the stress. Take care.

Yes several I would imagine. But there are several well advised tips on our forum. Main sorts of things to avoid white breads and rice. Anything processed, most tinned items which have additives. READ LABELS.....

If you want 🥯 bread, which I do occasionally, but not every day. I have seeded wholewheat rolls they keep fine in the freezer. I really enjoy a salad roll, using Hellman’s veggie mayonnaise instead of butter, fresh salad any amount, beetroot particularly good for you, and some low fat halloumi cheese 🧀 delicious 😋.

Fresh Chicken Breast, turkey, fish, in particular salmon, oily fish. And lean fresh pork medallions. All served with veggies cooked in the oven , don’t forget garlic , also dried mixed herbs.

Breakfast I alway have a wedge of lemon 🍋 in boiling water before I eat. Usually have either wheetabix, shredded wheat, porridge, with added fruit eg blueberry, cranberry, blackberry etc. I buy the frozen mixed berries, take out what I need and leave in fridge for the next day. Keep yourself hydrated as much water as you can comfortably drink, + coffee tea, I personally enjoy fruit, ginger, and green tea all of which are beneficial.

Hopefully it will give you some ideas from the snippets of my dietary menu.

Enjoy 😊. Chrissie 🤩x
