Any females here with PCOS and fatty liver disease?

Hello all; I'm a female in her mid-forties who's had PCOS for over 30 years and has recently been diagnosed with NASH Stage 2. Wondering if there are any women here in a similar situation, thanks. Apparently those with PCOS have a much higher incidence of developing Fatty Liver Disease/NAFLD/NASH as my hepatologist has a number of female patients with PCOS who've developed liver disease. I feel very fortunate to have found this forum!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Yes I am 28 and have PCOS and found out in 2017 that I have stage 2 Nash also!! Was a shock to me! I fill young and have had many worries about it all..... we had been trying for a baby and they did some bloodwork and my liver enzymes where high! So they did a biopsy and yeah told me I had Nash!

Many thanks for the response; are you working with an endocrinologist? On a special diet which factors in having both NASH with PCOS? Was curious to see whether any women with these issues are working with an endo.

I am not working with one no.... I wondered if I should be? right now I have been watching what I eat mostly worrying about not eat very many carbs... I have lost 42 pounds and my liver enzymes are normalizing just about back to normal... last time I went in all my liver count was normal except my alt was still slightly elevated at 48 it had been 122.....

Congratulations - that weight loss and normalization of enzymes is very impressive! Keep up the great work! Because of the PCOS and then NASH diagnosis I went to see a registered dietician /certified diabetes educator (although I am not diabetic) so I have cut carbs as well and am finding that is very helpful with weight loss. I am certainly not a medical professional so take this with a grain of salt but if you are still trying to conceive you may want to try to see a reproductive endocrinologist. Please keep me posted on. your success!

Thank you for your reply!! We are still trying to have a baby.... we have two beautiful little girls and it’s been my dream to have more.... and I am going to a fertility clinic here in September and they said they could get all my medical information from my doctor so I am hopeful that with my gi doctor and the fertility doctor it will work?! Did you have children?!
