Good Dragons And Other Funny Things our Kids Say....

One of our kids wanted to take their new hand puppet dragon to church, assuring us that it was a good dragon and would not breathe fire or eat anyone during the service... Many of kids struggle to understand the difference between reality and fiction, real or prentend....

They also because of their speech and language delay can often get words mixed up. Our eldest when small got confused about their FASD, and told everyone they were "alcoholic" - which coming from a 5 year old made people sit up and look..

Talking of alcohol, please support David See of The FASD Trust as he goes "none for Nine". You can find out more at justgiving.com/David-See

my grandson uses "mole".... it's a real conversation stopper. Reading a book, and leave a gap for the right word: If he's not in the right mood to tell you it's "mole!"... It can also be a blocker word for whenever he's not getting his own way - "Mole, mole, mole, mole..." We've no idea where it came from.... It's almost like swearing, and it can be other obsessions like "counting songs" or "FIREMEN, FIREMEN,...." said very rapidly to stop you speaking to him.. definitely a blocker word..

Mind you he thinks it's really funny when a family friend says it to him after he's refused to say hello to her, just squealed. She calmly says "Mole" at him and he giggles furiously. It's also used instead of any word of affection. "night night, I "MOLE" you" (he interjects the mole instead of "love"...)

I guess we just have to live with mole. Sometimes I get fed up and read a whole story with mole for every noun..... often, after that, and me saying how boring that story was, he'll say the right words for a while.... control, control, it's all about control I think!...
