These kids struggle with independent learning as they struggle to plan and organise themselves, does she have a teaching assistant or learning support assistant? They should be helping her. Do indeed get O T into school, they can do that and should be offering that anyway. (All kids with FASD have sensory problems, as pre natal alcohol exposure damages the brain and central nervous system). Also has the school accessed any of the FASD trust teacher training days or resources? encourage them to do that to get professional peer support.

My daughter has no individual support and there is no question of a statement at the moment.I will give them details of fasd training for support ,,but I think that we will have to force the statement issue.Do you think that it is worth getting a formal diagnosis? It will probably be fas, indeed my daughters psychiatrist has written that my daughter has complex issues probably related to birth. Mums alcohol intake. Also a paediatric neuro psychiatrist wrote that her pre birth experience was around alcohol.I am so tired and want my lovely daughter back rather than this angry stressed out girl. All advice hugely appreciated

My son has the same problems j had an assessment called a sensory diet by the OT which identifies where the most sensory needs are ie. oral motor , auditory processing. the OT then gives stratigies to home and school to help relieve the anxities before hand which helps.

Does your son follow the diet ? What was the result of school assessment.I am waiting for report from school/ OT ,but am not convinced that my girl will cooperate as she likes to shout at everyone and not take any responsibility for her behaviour.

Our school is refusing to cooperate. We are trying to get to into school,we have sent a formal letter requesting permission. Also my daughter gets no specific help.Social services are trying to help us.I believe that a formal diagnosis is the only answer, but we have no birth mum details of alcohol exposure. However we do have a paediatric neuropsychiatrist who states that she should have a statement. My poor daughter is stuck in the middle of this.
