Hi, when first diagnosed with Bell’s palsy you should understand that you are unwell. It is important to get plenty of rest even if you have no other symptoms. If you feel up to doing these things then it is obviously personal choice. The main thing is to protect your eye, such as use preservative free eye drops and preferably wraparound glasses. We would also recommend wrapping up well, scarf etc to protect your face from the cold. Hope you feel better soon.

It’s important to get a facial palsy specialist to evaluate you even if over Telehealth. I was misdiagnosed with BP by 5 providers over a 9mo period of time. It was actually a version of RHS w/o sores/rash. Commonly misdiagnosed. I’m now dealing with Synkinesis, an uncomfortable & annoying neurological disorder plus continued palsy.

Hopefully you truly have BP, if so you’ll be fine in 3-6mo (according to top FP specialists that collaboratively wrote Fix My Face). I always advise to get to one of these specialists to make certain you’re on the right care path to fully heal.

Jodi Barth, PT, CCI at The Center For Facial Recovery, Michael Reilly, MD at Med Star Health, or Chad Zatezako, MD. These individuals could ensure you have the correct diagnosis.

I’m passionate about doing all I can to make certain no one else ends up with my situation.

All the best to you!

thank you for taking the time to reply, it is very much appreciated. I seem to have been left in limbo not knowing what’s happening next and who to talk to. Good luck with your recovery. Steve
