Hi, I’ve gained 13lb during lockdown after getting my weight down prior to lockdown. I have a myriad of health conditions and with my partner shielding, exercise took a back seat.

I’ve downloaded the app and had a nasty shock when I measured my waist 🙈 However, I wasn’t able to add that I have PCOS, Endometriosis, POTS and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.... all of these with fibromyalgia mean my stomach is often painfully bloated and my joints tend to dislocate or partially dislocate, depending on what I’m doing or the time of month, even the weather can impact!!

I want to really get my health on a level playing field and be active & happy for my 7yr old daughter. I want to show that no matter what life throws at you, you can still do anything!!

Wow! It's always inspiring to see others who are trying to help themselves despite huge challenges. And it's such a motivation for your daughter. I have been struggling with diabetes and depression and lockdown hasn't helped me either, but now ready to go and already feeling better (mostly)!

The best thing about the App for me is that it starts gradually. I'm not familiar with the conditions you describe, but generally getting going slowly helps. I'd love to hear how you get on!

Diabetes and depression when alone are hard enough but together, it’s like a battle! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post.

I’m determined to just be healthy and spend proper quality time with my little girl & my OH! I had to be taken off the antidepressant, Citalopram about 3 weeks ago as it was causing heart problems along with dizziness (not good when you’re already dizzy with POTS 🙈), sévère migraines and fatigue.

It was an awful experience not just for me but for my partner and my little girl. This last week since I’ve started on the NHS health forum and joined this group, my mental health and physical health seemed to take a positive path!! It hit home when my daughter said “Mummy, you’ve not had a day in bed this week!! You even cane to the beach with me and Daddy and played!! I love you mummy..”

From the mouths of babes - the wake up call I needed!!

Again, thank you for sharing your journey and it will be great to see how you go 😊 xx

Hi Catey and welcome! Lockdown has really taken a toll, but exercise is very important as you say. Sometimes PCOS can cause bloating and a higher waist circumference.

Even though the App doesn’t specifically have some of these conditions it should still be able to prescribe an really good exercise programme. Fibromyalgia will mean that it does start very gently. My aunt also has POTS and has used the App to good effect. Feel free to ask any questions here.

Really good luck and very well done for making a change in you life. Things can be up and down, but exercise makes such a difference!

Thank you for your advice. I had just hit the point where enough was enough and after a really horrible experience having to come off Citalopram very quickly due to palpitations and other not so good symptoms, I never wanted my little girl to see mummy like that ever again.

I’ve started the NHS healthy eating plan and last night, myself and a friend who also has her weight and health struggles, took our dogs for a walk. Few stops along the way just to catch our breath but it was good to have someone else who knows WeightLoss for health is not a race but more a long distance journey!

I’m so glad you knew about POTS!! Not many people do and trying to explain sometimes that I’m not drunk, it’s my blood pressure can drive you insane 😂

I’m just learning not to be so harsh on myself and I think the app will keep me going ✨✨✨

Try to take part in Water-based activities.

It has really helped me. I to put on over a stone in lockdown. I am back at my pre lock down weight. I also have Fibro and other health problems.

Their are a number of people who go to Aquafit. They have problems with RA .

Hip/ knee replacement and a myriad of other health problems.

I know that we are in another lockdown. Look for YouTube films on gentle exercise.

I hope that this helps.
