How long after disimpaction did daytime wetting improve?

My son is nearly five and continues to wet himself regularly. We did disimpaction last week but still seem to be having urine accidents regularly. I was hoping they would improve. We got to the watery stage so I’m pretty sure we did it right..

Is he pooing regularly with a good consistency? Are you confident his maintenance dose is right? It may just take a while for everything to settle down and work properly again. Also worth checking if any drinks are worse than others. Maybe keep a diary.

Thanks for replying. I’ve been making sure he does a poo everyday (which he has) and they are always soft ideal consistency. He’s had a few skid marks in his undies every now and then again but I’m wondering if this is from too much medication?

The GP has ordered an ultrasound which we’ll have on Thursday (though most stuff I’ve read seems to say xrays are better). He only drinks water.

I’ve been keeping a record of all toileting activities. Over the weekend he was actually going 2.5-3 hours between wees (still doing a tiny wet patch in undies before getting to the toilet so I do think he’s not feeling it as well as he should still). But yesterday & today it seems to be back to 1.5 hours max...

I think the ultrasound is a good idea, hopefully that will confirm if he has an overloaded rectum that is pressing on his bladder. If he doesn’t then maybe the GP can refer you to a urology specialist. Let us know how you get on with the ultrasound X

His rectum diameter was 22mm which apparently is within the normal range so doesn’t indicate an overloaded rectum.. I’m going to try lowering his medication a little to see if it helps stop the skid marks.. doesn’t really explain the continued wetting accidents though

If it continues I would push for urologist referral
