Lazy bowel, girl age 7

My D is 7 and at school.

She has always had problems pooing. Even from a baby. Resulting in a stretched bowel. At the moment she is on 2 sachets of laxido a day and 12ml of senna. We are still trying to find a balance. As she occasionally still gets blocked. Resulting in a hospital visit. As she starts vomiting and her blood sugars drop really low. So need to be on a drip.

She wears pull ups every day, due to not knowing when she needs to poo. But she has now started weeing in the pull ups too. Sometimes. Has anyone else had similar. From a desperate mum 😁

Hi there, like your little girl my daughter has been like this from being a baby!! We never had the explosive poops or full nappy’s, I suppose we only really noticed on a motorway in France when we had to pull over and literally pull the poo from her!! ( thank god for my mother) she is now 6. So to this day we have had 3 hospital visits one she was put to sleep again to pull the poop out! ( hiersprungs has been ruled out) please excuse spelling!! We finally got referred to a continence team in May they took her in she had Kleen prep with a nasal tube into the stomach, absolutely horrific for her and me!! We did see a massive improvement within weeks she was eating gaining weight they were really good with us, so now we see them regular. We are now on 8 sachets of movicol and 10 mls of pico sulfate and we still get blocked up! It’s a massive struggle we still take spare clothes everywhere we go, we’re back to soiling several times a day, her behaviour changes she can be unbearable at times! So does it become any easier? We had a good few months of it maybe we became complacent who knows but we definitely still have a long way to go!! Xx

Keep smiling 😊 that’s all I can say x

Thank you for your reply. 😁

Been a bad day today. She has been very emotional. My D is very thin she is on 2nd centile. So underweight.

She has no energy. I thought I would get her and her brother out the house today. Bit of fresh air. So they took there scooters, well she did not get far, her legs where tired, she had tummy pain and burst into tears again. Poor thing just has no energy. And her appetite is not good. I think anxiety is getting to her 😔

I feel your pain!! Today we have been stuck at home as we were advised to give her higher doses of pico sulfate to try an dislodge some of the poo! So in between cry and laying on the floor we have managed 3 poos 🙌.

My daughter is also very small she has never moved from the 2nd centile! We are currently at 17.6kg I on the hand have a very feisty little girl even when she is in pain she never stops! But she displays how uncomfortable she is with her behaviour it’s awful sometimes even uncontrollable.

It soo difficult at times I struggle a lot with this because it actually over takes our lives, but then sometimes we need to take a step back and think how do children feel! ❤️

Yes my LG gets very moody and emotional. Does your child get very tired and weak.?

Mine has no energy. I can imagine pooing so much must make her feel drained. Hopefully the dietitian this month will help
