Can I give more than 1 sachet of Movicol at once?

As title. My son has recently gone through the disimpaction routine and he was having a nice soft/sloppy poo everyday so we reduced down from 4 a day, to 3 a day to 2 a day. He's been on 2 a day for about a week now and missed doing a poo on Friday, and missed doing one yesterday as well.

It seems that 2 sachets is not enough for his maintenance dose so I'm going back up to 4 to get to the watery poo stage again so I can try going down to 3 sachets as a maintenance dose.

My main question is; is it ok to give him 2 sachets at a time, obviously mixed up with the correct amount of water. During the day my son is cared for by others while I work and I can't be 100% sure that he is drinking all his medicine. He's great at taking it at home so if I could give him 2 sachets in the morning and 2 in the evening this would make the practicalities much easier.

Not sure why but I think it's supposed to be 15/20 minutes apart just from the point of view that the medicine works better but I don't think it matters if it's two at once particularly.

I think I read you can keep made up solution for 24hrs in the fridge and I am sure I was told you could spread when they drink it over the day. It might just have a knock on effect on when they need to poo. Read the instructions or if not call your Dr for advice. Xx

My 4 year old son is currently on 4 Laxido a day as his maintenance dose which we are very slowly reducing after a couple of relapses over the summer. We split the dose by giving him 2 in the morning (as one drink) and 2 in the evening (again as one drink). We have done this under the guidance of the children's specialist bladder and bowel nurse so I'm assuming it must be an accepted way of giving it. Good luck!

You can put two sachets in one drink at a time that is not a problem. If you make it up in advance for somebody else it needs to be stored in a fridge before it is consumed. We sometimes have to do this as my son has to have movicol at lunch time also.

Hi there, the doctor told me to give my daughter two in the morning and two at night. That’s what I have been doing. Can you tell me how long to give the movical for and when do you know to reduce it down? My daughter has the runny stage do I keep going? Thanks In advance 🙂
