I am at 3 months also and no erections. I was prescribed the pump by my surgeon. It is a Unysen. I have seen my penis get bigger in the pump over time. I started using it 4 weeks after surgery. It is to keep the penis from atrophying. I have had some partial erections during passion with my wife. I have heard 6-month average for return of erection if you had normal erectile function pre-surgery. I am on 5mg tadalafil daily with a booster dose of 15 mg twice a week.

If you just want it to exercise your penis then get a cheap one from a sex shop. If you want it for sex, then you will need one with tension bands that roll on to your penis after pumping. For a vacuum erection device for sex, google Encore pumps. That is what I have. I think it's the only brand that comes in a couple of different sizes.

**Full Disclosure-I work for a company which manufactures and sells pumps**

Pumps are extremely beneficial in a post-prostatectomy setting in helping prevent penile atrophy. Lots of studies and data support this.

As far as what to look for; I would stay away from novelty devices as the quality and safety of such devices are unknown. Reputable medical grade devices will provide you with the best quality as well as safety(safety bypass valves built-in to prevent injury in the event of over pumping. As a general battery operated devices will yield more consistent results because they pump at the same rate every time with little to no variance like a manually operated pump. There are differences between 2 vs. 3 battery systems in how powerful a vacuum they produce and as mentioned by a poster above if you are choosing to engage in intimacy do some research in the bands/rings. Many designs out there including fully circular ones that essentially act like a tourniquet vs. ones with notches that are anatomically correct that help with comfort. Either way they are not recommended for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Hope this helps. Again, full disclosure is I do work in the industry with pumps and have been for over a decade. I won’t advertise here on a public forum but please ask questions if you have any as I’ve had experience selling just about every ED treatment there is.

I bought one at the nearby sex shop. It works fine.

I was sent one by a study group from U. Minn. It works fine.

I bought one from Amazon. It works fine.

The "medical grade" devices are outrageously overpriced with the expectation that the insurer (often Medicare) will just swallow and pay. I do not agree with EDadvice's advice.

Thank you, what kind do u have, pump or battery, air or water, and they all give you full erection s, correct??

Air with silicon ring, both battery operated and thumb operated. Exhaust valve.

I think it is a full erection from the skin out. The part of the penis between my legs does not get full. My main problem is keeping my testicle from getting sucked into the chamber. That hurts but is not a catastrophe. Try to do ten minutes a day. One of the devices has a silicon cock ring that is supposed to hold the erection. It does but it is like your cock is hinged. Have not tried it for insertion, only for masturbation.

You WILL get something!! The Giddy comes out in Sept:. The first FDA-approved ED device! Shaped so that it can apply pressure around the shaft, yet leave blood flow and urethra unconstricted. It's going to very popular.

They include a 30-day program and money back guarantee on the $100 cost.

May you recover your erections quicker!

Thnx so much . I will look into it

Giddy is in partnership with malecare.org. Darryl gave us the first heads-up. I know how good this device will be because 1) I know from my own Loop device that pressure + unconstricted blood flow = Wow; and 2) Giddy's been thoroughly tested and it works. For "mild to severe ED."

Good luck!

Thnx. I guess it goes with a pump, correct? Any pump

Handdrummer777 profile image
Handdrummer777

No, sir! Nothing to do with pumps. It''s ridiculously simple; you make it yourself in about 5 seconds from a 6'-7' cord.

The Loop (and daily Tadalafil, and porn at times, have together completely saved my erectile function from the ADT sexual gauntlet, because I've been able to just simply keep it going -- even if libido isn't interested or is just generally lethargic.

Please go to the main group under Posts and type "Here is the file -- Loop instructions.". The link will come up to the document I've been offering for 4 months now. It's got hopefully very clear instructions and one helpful photo.

Good luck with this! Cost:. $0-$10. Until Giddy comes out. You cannot just wait for Giddy. I would be far less better off had I not had the Loop. Good luck here too.

Sorry, you were referring to Giddy at that point. I known I'm annoyingly gung-ho on my Loop. Anyway! Check getmegiddy.com for how it looks.

I'm surprised I missed this banter when it began. I'll add my two cents. I am now ten (10) months out from my October 2018 robotic prostatectomy. I am on a daily 20mg of sildenafil (generic viagra). I have manually exercised my penis several times a week since the catheter came out, in light of the "use it, or lose it" concerns. Occasionally I get some semi-erect results, not worthy of penetrating a vagina. Since injecting with Trimix a couple of months ago, the full-on sex life has returned. Great product. Another positive sign for me, I recently was able to enjoy sex with my wife with 100mg of sildenafil (in the past this amount of pills did not do the trick). I have a pump, it for the most part collects dust on the bathroom shelf (other than a painful dick, it did nothing for me). Final point, in rebuttal to earlier comment from Roamer321, "I have heard 6-month average for return of erection if you had normal erectile function pre-surgery". That time frame is extremely optimistic. I had zero ED issues before the prostate was removed, I am just getting some signs that things are "waking up down there". Most urologists say its 12-24 months before things return to the good old days (if they ever do at all). Since I AM SO LUCKY that my last two PSA results were nondetects (<0.007) I am obsessed with conquering ED. Continue to post and ask questions, my knowledge and inspiration comes from you guys!

We're on the same road, it seems. I'm on Cialis, and BImix, use the pump, and will do whatever it needed! As you say, things seem to be waking up, but it's the journey, not the destination, right? Bullshit, it's the erections we all want back!!

Great progress! Good for you exercising the penile member. Giddy comes out next month -- the new ED device that I know will delight many men.

Pumps can work. I found that the tension ring is critical. The smaller the better (we're talking 6-8 mm. Yes, that small; but you've got to keep the blood where It belongs and not 'leak out'. Also, I tend to like the battery powered ones, although the hand pumps can work, but tough with carpal tunnel. I'm 7 months post prostatectomy, and still without my own erections. I'm also using Bimix (don't worry about injecting, it's simple, essentially pain free, but takes time (several at least) to get the right dose. Back to pumps; I'm using one with a more narrow (but plenty big) opening, because the tension ring must go over the opening. There are pumps that have cones to put on the tension ring, which can be nice, and also one that helps remove the tension ring without losing the seal. Your erection when you get it right, is actually a better erection than normal! Downside: for me, they only work for a 'short' period of time, so having sex the sooner the better, lest things start to go south....and it can be uncomfortable if you leave it on too long (to each his own).

Try several of the websites, and you might find that you get more than one type (they're like hats, one size does not...you know) for different occasions (sex with partner, masturbation, etc.) oYu/we are in the undiscovered country (for me anyway) trying to find the best, hopefully temporary, method.

Thnx so much man, that's definitely some good info. I meet with an ED doctor Thursday, so I'll try, anything , thnx again. Why do you prefer battery operated?

Leaves one hand free and I have wrist arthritis. Call me lazy! But again, it's personal preference.
