Nocturnal seizure

I think i awoke having a seizure. My head was going forward to back very quickly. Then a quick shudder before i opened my eyes. My heart rate was 80 bpm when i checked my fitbit. A few nights prior i awoke with extreme muscle soreness in neck. Anyone else experience this?

Hello LyFrazier, I have totally been in your place. Unfortunately I cannot say for sure if it is a seizure or not because a year ago I was diagnosed with both non-epileptic and epileptic seizures. (IGE) Ideopathic Generalized Epilepsy in addition to (FND Functional Neurologic Disorder.) Yet to me, everything I experience feels the same to me. I wake up when I am having them, what part of my body varies, my speech is totally messed up, so is walking and moving etc. I dont lose consciousness which baffles my Neuro. I am aware of all 5 senses when these happen, and it kicks my butt the next day. As of lately I have just learned to try and sleep through them more because they were happening so often I have just become used to them. Before I was diagnosed every doc I saw just chalked them up to NES, until I pushed for more testing at night because the EEG during the day was normal, but night was when I was having them the most. So they did a 3 day ambulatory EEG and low and behold I was right, it wasnt just NES, but both. I am on 4 different meds now that have reduced the number but not completely. If you want to chat more and compare notes let me know,

Cheryl

My gp was already referring me to mayo clinic in jacksonville for vasovagal syncope with orthostatic hypotension, when i became aware of a night time seizure. She really wants me to be seen by a neurologist at mayo. I requested an appt. Today. I am curious if these are related.

Update, mayo clinic reveiwed my records and determined the "episodes" ive experienced for 18 months are actually awake focal vasovagal syncope seizures during the day! I see them june 11 to find out why all these seizures just started and get treatment.

The daytime seizures dont have the convulsimg that tje nighttime seizures cause. Maybe i have 2 different kinds also.
